LG is expanding the capabilities of LG Sound Suite, the world’s first soundbar audio system powered by Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, with a round of software-driven upgrades that add new audio compatibility, more flexible networking and easier content access. The headline addition is new DTS:X support on the H7 soundbar, giving LG Sound Suite H7 owners another immersive, multi-dimensional audio format to work with.
DTS:X joins Dolby Atmos on the H7
LG says the DTS:X update directly reflects feedback from home theater enthusiasts who wanted broader immersive-audio compatibility on the H7. The company is also developing a separate LG Media Connect Hub, intended to let DTS:X content play from compatible external source devices; LG has not yet shared a release date or full feature list for that hub.
More flexible networking and dual-subwoofer support
LG Sound Suite’s pitch from the start has been flexibility: instead of a fixed speaker layout, owners build a system around the H7 soundbar and add satellites, a subwoofer or additional units as needed. That modularity now extends further with support for Wi-Fi 6GHz networks and 5GHz DFS channels, which should make wireless stereo and multi-speaker configurations more reliable in real-world homes. LG Sound Suite configurations can also now run with two W7 subwoofers simultaneously, aimed less at raw output and more at giving owners more placement options to even out bass response across a larger room or multiple seating positions.
Broader content access via Google Cast
Google Cast support has also been added to the H7, letting owners stream music, podcasts and other audio content to their LG Sound Suite system directly from a phone or app without extra hardware. Combined with the system’s existing Dolby Atmos, Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, Sound Follow and Room Calibration Pro features, it rounds out a system that LG positions as simple to set up but built to grow with a listener’s needs over time.
Pricing and availability
These are free software updates rolling out to existing and new LG Sound Suite H7 systems; LG notes that availability and timing for specific features, including the 6GHz Wi-Fi and 5GHz DFS support, can vary by model, country, router compatibility and software version. No additional purchase is required for current H7 owners.
