UniVicoustic Signal Austria is now the name to know for high-end acoustic treatment in the Alpine market. Vicoustic’s specialist brand UniVicoustic has appointed Signal Sound & Light Distribution GmbH as its new official distributor in Austria, taking over from long-time representative 4Audio and opening a fresh chapter for the brand across the country’s professional audio, systems integration, and architectural design markets.

UniVicoustic Signal Austria: A New Chapter for Acoustic Design

The move brings UniVicoustic’s full range of sound absorbers, diffusers, and decorative acoustic panels under a distributor with deep roots in Austria’s professional AV trade. For dealers, integrators, and acousticians tracking the UniVicoustic Signal Austria rollout since the announcement, the appointment signals a renewed push into hi-fi listening rooms, home cinemas, and architectural projects across the country.

Who Is Signal Sound & Light Distribution?

Founded in 2007 and based in Knittelfeld, Signal Sound & Light Distribution GmbH has grown into one of Austria’s leading distributors of professional sound and lighting technology, working with installers, retailers, and system integrators nationwide. Signal already represents a broad portfolio of pro-audio and lighting brands, and the addition of UniVicoustic extends that catalogue into architectural and residential acoustic treatment – a category the distributor had not previously carried at this scale. For UniVicoustic, the appointment also closes out a multi-year transition period: the brand has been actively rebuilding its European distribution map since its rebranding from Vicoustic to UniVicoustic on the residential and hi-fi side of the business.

UniVicoustic’s Acoustic Treatment Portfolio

UniVicoustic, part of the Portuguese Vicoustic group, designs acoustic panels that combine measurable sound absorption or diffusion performance with finishes meant to be seen rather than hidden. The Flat Panel VMT range – built from recycled VicPET Wool and available in a wide choice of colours, patterns, and stone-look finishes such as Concrete, Light Grey, and Calacatta Cremo – is one of the brand’s most widely specified solutions for hi-fi rooms and home theatres, alongside its sound diffusers and dedicated Hi-Fi & Home Cinema collections. Beyond the flat panels, the wider UniVicoustic catalogue spans bass traps, ceiling clouds, and modular wall systems built for critical listening spaces rather than commercial studios alone. This new UniVicoustic and Signal Austria collaboration means every Austrian dealer working with Signal now has direct access to that full catalogue, rather than sourcing it through a secondary channel.

Pricing and availability

UniVicoustic Signal Austria products are sold exclusively through Signal’s dealer and integrator network rather than direct-to-consumer, in line with how Vicoustic distributes its architectural and hi-fi lines elsewhere in Europe. Pricing therefore varies by project, panel size, and finish; Austrian dealers, studios, and integrators can now request quotes and product specifications directly through Signal Sound & Light Distribution, with UniVicoustic’s existing European lead times expected to apply.

Key specifications

  • Distributor: Signal Sound & Light Distribution GmbH, Knittelfeld, Austria (founded 2007)
  • Previous representative: 4Audio
  • Flagship range: Flat Panel VMT (recycled VicPET Wool, patterns and stone-look finishes)
  • Panel formats: 60 cm, 120 cm, and 240 cm
  • Applications: Hi-Fi listening rooms, home cinemas, studios, and architectural interiors
  • Availability: Through Signal’s Austrian dealer and integrator network

For bestofhighend.com readers in Austria, the UniVicoustic Signal Austria partnership means shorter lead times and local technical support for one of Europe’s most specified acoustic treatment brands, alongside related solutions such as the Artnovion ChromaX acoustic panel system – a welcome upgrade for any high-end listening room or home cinema project in the pipeline. More information on the full product range is available at vicoustic.com.

Publisher

Marco Lisi is the publisher of Best of High End, part of AV Concepts BV. His path into audio started early: as a teenager he was drawn into the world of free radio, presenting shows and living immersed in music every day. In his early twenties he ran his own production studio for five years, creating jingles and commercials — hands-on training in sound design, pro-audio workflows, and critical listening through studio monitors that still shapes how he evaluates gear today. He also spent years DJing in clubs before moving into publishing, first at two earlier online magazines before founding Best of High End. His hi-fi and home cinema passion was inherited from his father, an inveterate system-swapper. Marco's first setup — a confirmation gift — paired AKAI separates with entry-level Bowers & Wilkins speakers, a brand he stayed loyal to for years as his system grew from stereo into full surround and home cinema. Like many enthusiasts, he went through an extended "audiophile" phase chasing the next upgrade, before settling into a more grounded view: gear as a means to enjoy music and film, not an end in itself. Years of critical listening have given him a well-trained ear — the ability to characterize a system or pinpoint a change in the chain quickly and accurately. Just as important, his teaching background (a Belgian "regent" degree in Dutch language) gives him the tools to translate those listening impressions into clear, readable writing.
