Sonus faber Renews the Olympica Collection for a Third Generation

The third-generation Olympica collection brings Sonus faber's Suprema-derived Camelia midrange driver to a wider range of Palladian-inspired loudspeakers

Sonus faber has brought its Olympica collection into a third generation, and the Italian brand is leaning harder than ever on the architecture of its hometown to do it. The new Sonus faber Olympica range draws its asymmetrical, lute-shaped cabinets from the harmony of Palladian design and channels acoustic engineering first proven in the flagship Suprema loudspeaker down into a range built for real living rooms, not just dedicated listening spaces.

Sonus faber Olympica: A Third Generation Built Around One New Driver

At the heart of every model in the collection sits a newly developed Camelia midrange driver, engineered in-house and shaped after the natural geometry of the camellia flower. Sonus faber says the design is intended to reduce unwanted resonance and deliver cleaner, more transparent vocal reproduction – the same driver philosophy first proven in the far pricier Suprema, now filtered down into a Sonus faber Olympica range most enthusiasts can actually fit into a living room.

The visual language leans just as heavily on heritage. Sonus faber describes the collection as a dialogue between architecture, craftsmanship and listening, inspired directly by the arches of Vicenza’s Teatro Olimpico. Handcrafted wood veneers, an asymmetrical silhouette and precision-machined aluminium accents carry that theme through from the cabinet contour to the smallest trim detail, tying the new range back to more than a decade of Olympica history.

Five Models, From Bookshelf to Flagship Floorstander

The Sonus faber Olympica lineup spans five models covering most common living-room layouts: a bookshelf speaker, two floorstanders of different sizes, plus a matching Center Channel and an On-Wall model for home-theatre systems built around the same design. Technical drawings for all five are already published on Sonus faber’s site, though full specifications for the Center Channel and On-Wall models were not yet listed alongside pricing at the time of writing – a gap prospective buyers will want to check with a dealer before committing to a full 5.1 system.

Pricing and availability

  • Olympica I (bookshelf): €12,000 per pair
  • Olympica III (floorstanding): €21,500 per pair
  • Olympica V (floorstanding): €27,000 per pair
  • Center Channel and On-Wall models: pricing not yet published

All five Sonus faber Olympica models are available now through the brand’s authorised dealer network, in a choice of handcrafted wood veneer finishes.

Key specifications

  • New in-house Camelia midrange driver across the range, derived from the flagship Suprema
  • Asymmetrical, lute-inspired cabinet silhouette inspired by Palladian architecture
  • Handcrafted wood veneer finishes with precision-machined aluminium accents
  • Five models: bookshelf, two floorstanders, Center Channel and On-Wall
  • Third generation of a Sonus faber collection first introduced over a decade ago

Sonus faber positions the new Olympica collection as a bridge between its everyday range and its flagship models – a way of letting the Camelia driver and the brand’s current design language reach listeners who are not shopping at Suprema or Aida money. For a company whose custom-install Palladio line already borrows its name from the same architectural tradition, the Sonus faber Olympica refresh reads less like a one-off launch and more like a consolidation of a design philosophy the brand has been building toward for years.

Sonus faber has not announced a dedicated demo tour for the new range, though dealers are expected to begin in-store listening sessions alongside the existing rollout. Full details on the Sonus faber Olympica collection, including every available finish and current dealer availability, are published on the brand’s own Olympica collection page.

Marco Lisi is the publisher of Best of High End, part of AV Concepts BV. His path into audio started early: as a teenager he was drawn into the world of free radio, presenting shows and living immersed in music every day. In his early twenties he ran his own production studio for five years, creating jingles and commercials — hands-on training in sound design, pro-audio workflows, and critical listening through studio monitors that still shapes how he evaluates gear today. He also spent years DJing in clubs before moving into publishing, first at two earlier online magazines before founding Best of High End. His hi-fi and home cinema passion was inherited from his father, an inveterate system-swapper. Marco's first setup — a confirmation gift — paired AKAI separates with entry-level Bowers & Wilkins speakers, a brand he stayed loyal to for years as his system grew from stereo into full surround and home cinema. Like many enthusiasts, he went through an extended "audiophile" phase chasing the next upgrade, before settling into a more grounded view: gear as a means to enjoy music and film, not an end in itself. Years of critical listening have given him a well-trained ear — the ability to characterize a system or pinpoint a change in the chain quickly and accurately. Just as important, his teaching background (a Belgian "regent" degree in Dutch language) gives him the tools to translate those listening impressions into clear, readable writing.
