Vancouver’s audio community gets a rare treat this fall: the Vancouver Audio Festival returns to Hi-Fi Centre on Saturday, September 19, 2026, for a full day of hands-on listening with some of the biggest names in high-end sound. Since 2010, the free, public Vancouver Audio Festival has turned Hi-Fi Centre’s downtown Vancouver showroom into an open house for audiophiles, and this year’s edition centers on a genuine rarity: a full demonstration of the Bowers & Wilkins Nautilus, a loudspeaker seldom heard outside a private listening room.

A Showroom Turned Listening Room

Founded in 1984 by Alex Kivritsky, Hi-Fi Centre has grown into Western Canada’s premier high-end audio destination over more than four decades, and the Vancouver Audio Festival has become its flagship yearly event since debuting in 2010. Running from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at 23 West Pender Street, the festival gives visitors open-ended access to demo rooms rather than a fixed schedule, with manufacturer representatives on hand throughout the day to walk attendees through their systems. “You can’t put into words what a room like that does to a piece of music, but you can watch it happen on someone’s face,” said Igor Kivritsky, President at Hi-Fi Centre. “That’s what this festival has always been about for us. Nautilus is just this year’s added reason to fall in love with listening all over again.”

The Draw: A Rare Bowers & Wilkins Nautilus Demo

The centerpiece of this year’s Vancouver Audio Festival is a full demonstration of the Bowers & Wilkins Nautilus, the brand’s hand-built, snail-shaped flagship loudspeaker that has helped define the outer edge of high-end audio for close to three decades. Built to order and priced from roughly $110,000 per pair depending on market, Nautilus rarely leaves a private listening room, which makes Hi-Fi Centre’s demonstration one of the more unusual opportunities on this year’s Canadian show calendar.

New Debuts and a KEF Prize Draw

Alongside Nautilus, the Vancouver Audio Festival will host the Canadian debut of two new releases: the Bowers & Wilkins 803 D5, the most compact model in the reworked 800 Series Diamond D5 range at $35,000 per pair, and the Sonus faber Olympica G3 III, a three-way floorstander from the brand’s newest Olympica generation priced around $21,500 per pair. In total, 19 brands will be represented at the 2026 Vancouver Audio Festival, including AudioQuest, Burmester, CH Precision, Classe, Eversolo, Focal, IsoAcoustics, KEF, Luxman, Meze Audio, Naim, Rega, Rotel, Transparent, Weiss, and YG Acoustics. KEF is sponsoring this year’s prize draw, open to all attendees free of charge, with a pair of LS50 Wireless II speakers as the grand prize, a pair of LSX II speakers as second prize, and a KEF Muo portable speaker as third.

Event Details

The Vancouver Audio Festival takes place Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Hi-Fi Centre, 23 West Pender Street, Vancouver, BC. Admission is free and no purchase is necessary to enter the prize draw; complimentary customer parking is available at the back of the building, with entry at 23 West Pender Street. Hi-Fi Centre can be reached directly for more information ahead of the show. For enthusiasts who cannot make it to Vancouver, the Bowers & Wilkins Nautilus remains one of the most written-about loudspeakers in the brand’s history, and the Vancouver Audio Festival’s demo is a rare chance to hear the sculpture-like design in person rather than read about it. Full event details are also available on the official Hi-Fi Centre event page.

Publisher

Marco Lisi is the publisher of Best of High End, part of AV Concepts BV. His path into audio started early: as a teenager he was drawn into the world of free radio, presenting shows and living immersed in music every day. In his early twenties he ran his own production studio for five years, creating jingles and commercials — hands-on training in sound design, pro-audio workflows, and critical listening through studio monitors that still shapes how he evaluates gear today. He also spent years DJing in clubs before moving into publishing, first at two earlier online magazines before founding Best of High End. His hi-fi and home cinema passion was inherited from his father, an inveterate system-swapper. Marco's first setup — a confirmation gift — paired AKAI separates with entry-level Bowers & Wilkins speakers, a brand he stayed loyal to for years as his system grew from stereo into full surround and home cinema. Like many enthusiasts, he went through an extended "audiophile" phase chasing the next upgrade, before settling into a more grounded view: gear as a means to enjoy music and film, not an end in itself. Years of critical listening have given him a well-trained ear — the ability to characterize a system or pinpoint a change in the chain quickly and accurately. Just as important, his teaching background (a Belgian "regent" degree in Dutch language) gives him the tools to translate those listening impressions into clear, readable writing.
