Motorola Bang Olufsen is now an official pairing: the two brands have announced a multi-year global partnership that brings “Audio by Bang & Olufsen” to Motorola’s premium smartphone lineup, with Bang & Olufsen’s acoustic engineers tuning the sound of selected flagship devices. The collaboration marks one of the more unexpected high-end audio crossovers this year: a century-old Danish audio house lending its acoustic expertise to a mainstream Android phone maker.

Motorola Bang Olufsen: What Audio by Bang & Olufsen Actually Means Here
Bang & Olufsen’s “Audio by Bang & Olufsen” program is the same partner framework the company already uses to bring its acoustic expertise to other manufacturers’ hardware, rather than a full in-house Bang & Olufsen product. For Motorola, that means Bang & Olufsen acousticians working directly with Motorola’s existing hardware to evaluate, refine and fine-tune its audio performance, covering calls, voice notes, music, video and gaming, with sound modes tailored to different types of content. Motorola describes it as the first phase of a deepening relationship: Bang & Olufsen’s engineers are expected to get involved earlier in future product development, working alongside design and engineering from the outset rather than tuning finished hardware after the fact.
“Bang & Olufsen has spent a century bringing together acoustic excellence, exceptional craftsmanship and iconic design,” said Ruben Castano, Motorola’s VP of Design, Brand and Customer Experiences. Duncan McCue, Bang & Olufsen’s VP of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships, added that the program is how the Danish brand brings “authentic Bang & Olufsen experiences” to categories where audio quality is central to the product.

First Device: the Motorola Signature 27
The partnership’s launch device is the Motorola Signature 27, unveiled at the Snapdragon Summit with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, and the first Motorola phone to carry the Audio by Bang & Olufsen mark on its camera module. A North American launch is confirmed for “the coming months,” alongside the phone’s existing rollout elsewhere. Motorola has not published tuning specifics such as amplifier configuration or supported audio formats for the Signature 27, so it remains to be seen how deep the acoustic collaboration goes on this first model versus future ones — a question we asked when covering Sony’s own Xperia 10 VIII launch earlier this year.

Pricing and availability
Neither company has published pricing tied specifically to the Bang & Olufsen partnership, since it is a tuning collaboration rather than a separate paid feature. The Motorola Signature 27 itself is rolling out market by market, with a North American launch promised in the coming months; further Motorola devices carrying the Audio by Bang & Olufsen mark are expected as the partnership continues.
