A couple of Fridays ago I drove to Roermond in the Netherlands. I was invited by Bang & Olufsen to preview/review their Beosound Premiere advanced soundbar with spatial audio. In consultation, we chose the nearest Bang & Olufsen center. It turned out to be a surprising morning to say the least. I thought that with a 2-hour listening session, that job should be done. In the end, I spent half a day at Poulissen Audio Video Center in Roermond until well past lunch. I have seen and heard a lot in my career, but this truly topped everything. The level of hostmanship from dad Gerard, daugther Anne-Marie and son Johan was unprecedented and unseen in our industry. I have never felt so welcome in any story as I did there. Barely a foot in the door, Johan took me by the arm and accompanied me to a private parking space to safeguard my car. When my second foot was in the door, he offered coffee and cake.
A few minutes later we were all sitting at a table and we told more about ourselves. Gerard spoke passionately about how he had started the business. He is particularly delighted that he has built a true family business with the highest standards and values. As a customer, you couldn’t imagine a better place to end up. An hour later, I was given a guided tour of the entire store. There was no end to that audiovisual heaven: listening room after listening room, a solution for every budget. What a selection of brands and products ! Naturally, we also passed throught their high-end listening room, which is acoustically optimized. I was allowed to view the plans and listen to the beautiful things inside. What a treat !
However, it didn’t stop there. What about a genuine Loewe department and a true Bang & Olufsen house? In the cellar of the building they have set up a real Bang & Olusfen museum with lots of collectors items. Now we are gradually coming to today’s topic: the Bang & Olufsen Beosound Premiere.
Iconic products from 1925
Bang & Olufsen was founded in 1925 by two visionary Danish engineers, Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen, who began experimenting in the attic of the Olufsen family manor in Struer, Denmark. Their breakthrough came with the invention of “The Eliminator,” a device that enabled radios to run directly on alternating current from the wall rather than batteries—a revolutionary advancement that made home audio far more accessible and practical. What started as modest radio production quickly evolved into a hallmark of Danish design excellence, blending cutting-edge acoustic engineering with sculptural aesthetics. Over the decades, Bang & Olufsen has earned a reputation for iconic products—from early Bakelite radios like the Beolit series to groundbreaking speakers, televisions, and audio systems—that prioritize not only superior sound quality but also timeless elegance and innovation. This century-long legacy of craftsmanship continues to define the brand as a symbol of luxury in consumer electronics.
Bold new icon
The Bang & Olufsen Beosound Premiere stands as a bold new icon in the brand’s century-long tradition of transforming audio gear into sculptural art. Crafted from pearl-blasted aluminum with a striking three-dimensional silhouette, this soundbar refuses to hide behind conventional grilles. Instead, it proudly displays its sophisticated driver array, making it a true statement piece for modern living spaces. Its sculptural form, available in elegant finishes like Natural Aluminum, Gold Tone, or Black Anthracite (with optional fabric or wood covers), embodies Danish design excellence—timeless, unapologetic, and instantly recognizable. Whether wall-mounted or placed on a stand, the Premiere commands attention not merely as a soundbar, but as a centerpiece that elevates any room with its presence long before the first note plays.
Core technology
At its core, the Beosound Premiere delivers immersive spatial audio through a powerful 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos configuration powered by ten custom-engineered drivers and 580 watts of discrete Class D amplification. The setup includes four 4×3-inch racetrack woofers, four 2-inch full-range cones (front- and side-firing), a 1.5-inch up-firing driver with 1,925 precision-machined perforations honoring the brand’s founding year, and a 0.8-inch tweeter. B&O’s patent-pending Wide Stage Technology expands the soundfield with exceptional clarity, depth, and dialogue precision, while adaptive DSP and True Image processing optimize performance for any room (10–45 m²). With a frequency range down to 34 Hz, up to 102 dB SPL, seamless Beolink multiroom integration, HDMI eARC, and wireless streaming options, it offers cinematic immersion and high-fidelity music playback in one refined package.
Ease of use
The Beosound Premiere offers seamless and versatile control options, whether through its dedicated remote, integration with other devices, or the intuitive Bang & Olufsen app. When paired with an LG television, you can elegantly operate the speaker using the beautiful Bang & Olufsen remote, adding a touch of premium design to your setup. Naturally, full control is always available via the Bang & Olufsen app, where the four presets found directly on the Premiere are conveniently displayed at the top for instant access. From the app, you can easily stream music services such as Tidal or Deezer, select radio stations, connect additional speakers and turn them on or off, and adjust the volume. The app further enhances the experience by allowing you to pair speakers, combine rooms into groups, and regulate volume effortlessly with a visual slider bar, making multi-room audio management both simple and intuitive.
Beosound Premiere target audience
The Bang & Olufsen Beosound Premiere is crafted for the discerning listener who seeks more than just a powerful soundbar — it is designed for the audiophile, design connoisseur, and homeowner who values a luxurious, evolving audio ecosystem. While it performs beautifully as a standalone unit, the Premiere is truly built for those ready to invest in a complete Bang & Olufsen setup using the brand’s Mozart software platform. This intelligent platform ensures seamless harmony and effortless multi-room integration, allowing you to expand the system with up to four additional speakers — from the compact Beosound A5 all the way to flagship models like the Beolab 28 or even Beolab 8 — creating multiple zones where you can play the same content throughout the house or enjoy different music in different rooms.
As you add higher-grade speakers, the entire system matures in real time: the soundstage widens, bass deepens, and the overall presentation becomes noticeably more refined and immersive, delivering greater listening pleasure with every upgrade. A subtle integrated LED visual indicator on the Premiere provides elegant feedback on volume and system status, completing the refined user experience. In short, this is the ideal product for those who appreciate Danish design, demand exceptional sound quality today, and want a future-proof audio system that grows with their ambitions and living space.
Spatial sound impressions
Bringing a soundbar to market that gives you a full 360° experience is a true challenge. Would Bang & Olufsen have succeeded in this? Objectively speaking, I think we are examining to what extent they have managed to approximate that experience. It is also quite difficult to evaluate a soundbar on its own. You are quick to compare it to a more traditional speaker setup. Those who choose a soundbar often do not think this way and search the best sound from a solution that is as disceet and visually appealing as possible. What do we take as reference sound then? What should a soundbar be capable of? The fairest approach is to evaluate the Beosound Premiere based on what Bang & Olufsen claims to deliver with this product: a new approach to spatial audio. Let’s see (or better hear ) if the shoe fits. Here’s a quote from their website: “Designed to offer a truly immersive listening experience, this soundbar transports you into the heart of your favourite entertainment. With Wide Stage technology™, it delivers rich, detailed audio that surrounds you, making every movie and music sound realistic and engaging. Feel the depth and clarity of every note and effect as the sound comes alive from every direction.” Ready to review?
Spider-Man – No way home
We’re diving straight into the action! Spider-Man spits his web into the room and performs dizzying pirouettes. The sound extends far beyond the soundbar’s range; you really get the feeling that sounds reach almost to your left and right. The bass response exceeds expectations considering the soundbar’s physical dimensions. At times, you think there’s a hidden subwoofer. You could certainly call the character of the representation holographic. Is it really immersive? Not complete. It only becomes so when you add 2 Beosound Emerge surround speakers to the system. Only then do you feel fully immersed. With the Beolab 8 as surrounds, you take the level even higher. Literally and figuratively. With this, you create a mature listening environment that I could live with perfectly.
Jurassic World – Rebirth
The action literally bursts off the screen. The sound seems to be coming right out of the screen. Once again, the bass is impressive. The Beosound Premiere imbues the movements of the dinosaurs with sufficient power, depth, and force to come across convincingly. What struck me positively was the rendering of detail, drawing you into the movie. When those enormous beasts dived back into the sea, the splash in the water was so realistic that I almost asked for a towel.
Wish
We will leave the action for a moment and switch to an animated film. What a musical feast! You never get the feeling that the sound is coming from the soundbar. It seems to disappear. Thanks to clever DSP technology, the television screen forms one big speaker (and beyond). Good points for the naturalness of the instruments such as piano, saxophone, and percussion. It flows effortlessly. Subtle micro-details like the blowing of the saxophone make the experience more intense. Bang & Olufsen did a great job regarding loudness. The soundstage and the imaging of the instruments hold up nicely at low volumes.
Mission Impossible – Final Reckoning
Let’s briefly watch the scene with the propeller planes. Wow! What dynamics! The Beosound Premiere generates enormous pressure, power, and impact. This film has an excellent soundtrack. You can follow it perfectly, without losing focus on the clear and crisp film sounds. I percieve a resolving power that you would sooner associate with a pair of hefty bookshelf speakers. The overall soundscape does not stick together; you can clearly distinguish its various components. Impressive for a soundbar!
The Greatest Showman
With our next scene, we suddenyl find ourselves in a musical. We are watching a beautiful female performance. Her tone is sweat, soft and endearing. Her voice is carried by an intriguing low register. I notice a strikingly large staging that extends far into the space. You feel presence from the sides and behind. That’s insane, just coming from a soundbar! Impressive dynamics. For the first time we are playing at a truly “live” level (90dB). The Beosound Premiere doesn’t flinch at all.
Chris Jones – No sanctuary here
To get a taste of the true hi-fi quality, we subject the soundbar to some pure music. A true classic. Chris’s voice separates will from the instruments. The sound is open, with excellent seperation. It seems that the Beosound Premiere handles the mix of music, TV and movie experience perfectly.
Anette Askvik – Liberty
We let ourselves be surprised by high-level hi-fi reproduction. Even when walking throught the room, the sound image remains stable. Anette’s voice is projected freely into the space. We watch and listen to a nice, broad artist platform.

Beosound Premiere
from 3.900 EURThe Bang & Olufsen Beosound Premiere is a stunning, high-performance soundbar that fully lives up to the brand’s reputation for combining exceptional Danish design with impressive sonic capability. It delivers a genuinely immersive and cinematic spatial audio experience that far exceeds what most people expect from a single-bar solution. With strong dynamics, surprising bass depth, excellent clarity, and a wide, holographic soundstage, it shines across blockbusters, animated films, musicals, and pure hi-fi listening. The build quality and sculptural aesthetics are simply world-class, and the ease of use — especially via the Bang & Olufsen app and LG TV remote integration — makes it a pleasure to live with every day. While it already performs remarkably well as a standalone unit, the Premiere truly comes alive when paired with Beosound Emerge or Beolab 8 surround speakers, elevating the experience from very good to high-level immersive. Its only real drawbacks are the premium price tag, relatively large dimensions, and the desire for surrounds to unlock its full potential — all typical trade-offs for a product in this league. In short: If you value timeless design, luxurious build quality, and a soundbar that can grow into a complete high-end multi-room system, the Beosound Premiere is an outstanding choice and a worthy new icon in the Bang & Olufsen lineup. Highly recommended for design-conscious audiophiles and home cinema enthusiasts who are ready to invest in something special.
