NextLevel Acoustics has introduced the Mantelbar, a custom architectural soundbar built directly into a fireplace mantel to erase the visual clutter of home theater electronics. The NextLevel Acoustics Mantelbar borrows its driver array straight from the brand’s Cinema 5 theater speaker platform, and a dedicated version hides a Sonos Arc completely out of sight, so a mantel can look exactly like a mantel while still delivering true theater-level sound. The brand previously showed off its Beyond the Room immersive audio demo at CEDIA 2026.
Inside the NextLevel Acoustics Mantelbar
Rather than mounting a soundbar below the TV, the NextLevel Acoustics Mantelbar replaces the mantel itself, wrapping up to six 5.5-inch carbon wool cone woofers and three 1-inch tweeters into a custom-built shelf that spans the width of the fireplace. In LCR configuration the array stretches up to 66 inches before switching to a wider TWW/WTW/WWT driver layout for anything longer, while a leaner Stereo configuration uses four woofers and two tweeters for simpler two-channel systems. A removable magnetic grille, available in a wide range of designer fabrics, keeps the drivers hidden without sacrificing structural integrity, and cable-management openings on the wall returns route wiring cleanly out of sight.
Two Ways to Go Invisible
The standard NextLevel Acoustics Mantelbar draws on Cinema 5 engineering for a 55 Hz-20 kHz frequency response, 110 dB of maximum output at one meter, and a 40- to 400-watt recommended amplifier range – specifications aimed at dedicated home theater rooms rather than a casual add-on soundbar. For systems already built around Sonos, NextLevel Acoustics also offers a Mantelbar SONOS Arc variant that conceals the Arc itself inside the mantel while a custom waveguide preserves its upward-firing Dolby Atmos channels, so height effects still reach the room even though the soundbar is nowhere to be seen.

Both versions of the NextLevel Acoustics Mantelbar ship in High Gloss Black, Matte Black, Walnut, Red Oak, or Natural Cherry, with designer grille fabric options that let installers match an existing mantel, cabinetry, or stone surround. Built from MDF for a stable, furniture-grade finish, each Mantelbar is made to order for the specific fireplace opening it will cover, positioning it as a custom-install product rather than an off-the-shelf soundbar you unbox and place.
