Marking the final chapter of its Atelier centenary series, Bang & Olufsen unveils the sensational Beolab 90 Monarch Edition a sculptural reinterpretation of its flagship loudspeaker, defined by shaped rosewood and precision aluminium craftsmanship.
A Tribute to Danish Furniture Design Heritage
Inspired by Danish furniture design heritage, the Monarch Edition features angled rosewood lamellas that wrap around the aluminium cabinet, creating a flowing, tactile surface that transforms the speaker into a piece of sculptural design. The rosewood itself is sourced from a specialist wood supplier based in Bramming, Denmark, continuing Bang & Olufsen’s longstanding commitment to local craftsmanship and material expertise.
Each piece of Santos Palisander (rosewood) displays its own unique grain pattern, making every speaker truly one-of-a-kind. The lamellas are hand-carved and angled to follow the complex contours of the cabinet, culminating in a solid rosewood top ring, while the aluminium receives an ochre-coloured anodised finish that beautifully complements the warm tones of the wood. The result is not just an audio component, but a tactile sculpture that echoes the dynamic movement of sound itself a celebration of B&O’s deep roots in Scandinavian design and woodworking traditions.
The Luminous Beolab 90 Zenith Edition
Alongside the Monarch, Bang & Olufsen introduces the Beolab 90 Zenith Edition a luminous interpretation of the speaker featuring thousands of anodised aluminium spheres and subtle mother-of-pearl inlays that interact with light and texture.
This edition transforms the Beolab 90 into a shimmering, almost ethereal object. Six triangular panels each hold 289 polished aluminium spheres in varying finishes over 1,700 spheres per pair meticulously assembled by hand in a process that takes around 36 hours. A pearl-blasted aluminium fascia and delicate mother-of-pearl inlays on the top surface further enhance the play of light, creating a surface that appears to float and reflect its surroundings in captivating ways. Where the Monarch celebrates organic warmth and tradition, the Zenith embraces modernity, precision, and optical drama.
Limited Production and Uncompromised Performance
Produced in a limited series of just ten pairs per edition, the Monarch and Zenith complete Bang & Olufsen’s five-part Atelier anniversary collection following the Titan, Shadow, and Mirage Editions celebrating a century of design and acoustic innovation.
Each pair comes with a certificate of authenticity and a miniature aluminium Beolab 90 sculpture matching the edition, presented in a custom delivery box. Yet beneath the extraordinary exterior lies the same formidable performance that has made the Beolab 90 a benchmark in high-end audio. Powered by 18 bespoke drivers (including seven tweeters, seven midrange units, and multiple woofers) and advanced beam-forming technology with active room compensation, these speakers deliver immense power up to 8,200 watts of amplification and immersive, room-filling sound that adapts seamlessly to any environment.
The Pinnacle of a Century of Craftsmanship
With the Monarch and Zenith Editions, Bang & Olufsen brings its 100-year journey full circle. These are not merely loudspeakers; they are statement pieces that blur the line between high-fidelity audio, fine furniture, and contemporary art.
