Bang & Olufsen has introduced the Beolab 90 Phantom Edition and Mirage Edition, the latest in a series of ultra-exclusive Atelier creations marking the Danish luxury audio brand’s 100th anniversary. Limited to just ten pairs each, these handcrafted loudspeakers transform the flagship Beolab 90—originally launched in 2015—into bold sculptural statements blending cutting-edge acoustics with extraordinary design.
Following the Titan Edition, the Phantom and Mirage represent the second and third of five planned Atelier masterpieces. Each pair comes with a certificate of authenticity, underscoring their collectible status.
Phantom Edition: Monochromatic Power and Motorsport Inspiration
The Phantom Edition embodies “the power of darkness” with a dramatic all-black aesthetic inspired by high-performance motorsport.
- Semi-transparent black PVD metal mesh: Reveals the internal architecture for a holographic, angle-dependent effect.
- Hand-layered carbon fiber: Used for the sculptural face mask, base panels, and shoulder plates, emphasizing lightweight strength.
- Pearl-blasted aluminum skeleton: Frames the acoustic panels with precision trim rings for refined architectural detail.
Every element is obsessively engineered and hand-finished, resulting in a futuristic, elemental presence ideal for collectors seeking purity in form and emotion.
Mirage Edition: A Vibrant Explosion of Color
In stark contrast, the Mirage Edition celebrates chromatic dynamism and Bang & Olufsen’s anodization expertise.
The Beolab 90 Mirage Edition, featuring its hypnotic iridescent fabric shifting between sapphire and magenta hues.
- Iridescent fabric: Shifts hypnotically between sapphire and magenta, evoking sound waves and light fluidity.
- Gradient anodized aluminum: Five precision-milled parts per speaker with bespoke gradients and wave-textured surfaces.
- Artisan craftsmanship: Manual polishing and lab-controlled anodization create a “chromatic crescendo” that turns any room into a visual symphony.
The Mirage is designed to captivate visually while delivering immersive audio, transforming spaces into galleries of sound and color.
Unchanged Acoustic Excellence
Both editions retain the legendary performance of the Beolab 90: 18 premium drivers per speaker, 8,200 watts of amplification, advanced beam-forming technology for precise sound direction, and Active Room Compensation to adapt to any environment.
Unveiled in San Francisco
The new editions debuted at Bang & Olufsen’s new San Francisco Culture Store—the brand’s largest showroom worldwide and one of three planned “culture stores” in California this centenary year.
The speakers will tour globally for intimate experiences. Pricing has not been officially disclosed for these editions, though the standard Beolab 90 commands premium six-figure sums, reflecting their status as pinnacles of acoustic artistry and design. Available exclusively through select Bang & Olufsen boutiques.
