The lineup consists of three models — the R-188, R-288, and R-588 — all designed and handcrafted in Denmark. Each unit supports both traditional Moving Coil (MC) cartridges and modern DS Audio optical cartridges in a single, elegant chassis, offering exceptional versatility for analog playback.

At the core of the R-x88 series is Aavik’s commitment to an ultra-quiet, transparent signal path that preserves every musical nuance. The phono stages achieve a remarkable signal-to-noise ratio of 94 dB (measured at 1 kHz) through a discrete, parallel-configured input stage using ultra-low-noise bipolar transistors. The MC input is fully floating and balanced, with no connection to ground, further reducing noise and interference.

The differences between models are primarily in noise-reduction intensity. The R-588 features the highest number of Active Tesla Coils (108), Square Tesla Coils (216), and dither circuits (9), delivering the quietest operation and most refined sound.

The R-x88 series showcases Aavik’s signature hybrid cabinet construction, designed by Flemming Erik Rasmussen and Chief Designer Michael Børresen. Combining wood, copper, and steel, the enclosure provides excellent resonance control while delivering striking visual elegance. Each unit measures 440 × 430 × 116 mm and weighs a substantial 21 kg, reflecting the robust build quality expected at this level.
