CH Precision P10: 4-Input Remarkable Phono Preamplifier

Swiss manufacturer CH Precision has introduced the CH Precision P10, a reference phono preamplifier designed to stand alongside the brand’s L10 Reference Line Stage and M10 Reference Power Amplifier. Building on the legacy of the acclaimed P1, long regarded as a benchmark for adjustability and musical integrity, the CH Precision P10 pushes the format further with a twin-chassis design and a newly developed three-stage gain architecture.

Four Independent Inputs, Built for Complex Analog Systems

The CH Precision P10 offers four fully independent phono inputs, split between two trans-impedance current-sensing circuits and two voltage-sensing MC/MM circuits, letting owners run multiple tonearms or compare cartridges without recabling. Gain is adjustable in refined 3 dB steps, from +56 dB to +77 dB on the current-sensing inputs and +42 dB to +75 dB on the voltage-sensing inputs, with seven EQ curves covering everything from RIAA to EMI, Columbia, Decca, DGG, NARTB and Philips standards.

An intelligent setup wizard uses CH Precision’s software analysis to propose optimal loading values based on real-time measurement, after which the digital layer withdraws entirely, leaving a purely analog signal path from cartridge to output.

A Twin-Chassis Approach to Silence

Like the rest of CH Precision’s 10 Series, the CH Precision P10 separates its power supply from the audio circuitry entirely, using heavy regulation, extensive local decoupling and complete galvanic isolation between stages. Combined with the new three-stage gain topology, this lowers the noise floor by an additional 5 dB compared to the already highly regarded P1, aided by a newly engineered mechanical grounding system that isolates the circuitry from electrical and mechanical interference alike.

Pricing and availability

CH Precision has not published pricing for the P10 on its website; interested buyers are directed to the brand’s authorized dealer network for configuration and ordering. The CH Precision P10 ships as a standard two-chassis stereo model, with an upgrade path to a full four-chassis true monaural configuration by adding a second unit, requiring no redesign or replacement. An Expandable Reference Platform

CH Precision positions the P10 as a modular, expandable platform rather than a fixed solution, joining a category of high-end phono stages built for owners running ambitious analog front ends, alongside recent designs such as the Vinnie Rossi CANTA phono preamplifier. The ability to move from stereo to true dual-mono operation without a full replacement gives the CH Precision P10 a longer usable life than most phono stages, which are typically locked to their original configuration from the day they leave the factory.

Control is handled from the front panel, an infrared remote, or the CH Control App, which mirrors the same operational logic as the hardware itself rather than acting as a separate, simplified layer. On-screen indicators show active EQ engagement, loading value and input selection at a glance, and the app additionally allows browsing of networked UPnP music libraries, bringing playback control and local library access into a single interface for owners who prefer to manage their system remotely.
