The Audio-Technica ATH-M50xSTS-WL is the first wireless model in the brand’s StreamSet series. It combines the studio sound of the famous ATH-M50x monitor headphone with a microphone based on Audio-Technica’s 20-series technology, and connects over low-latency 2.4 GHz wireless. The headset is aimed at streamers, gamers and content creators, and is available from today.
Audio-Technica ATH-M50xSTS-WL: a 20-series microphone on a boom
The heart of the headset is a large-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone, derived from Audio-Technica’s 20-series, which focuses on the wearer’s voice for clear, high-resolution speech. An adaptive noise reduction function helps to suppress background noise from sources such as air conditioning and PC fans. It has two selectable levels, which you set directly on the earcup.
A flexible boom arm keeps the microphone close to your mouth, and flipping the boom up mutes it instantly. A sidetone function lets you hear your own voice through the headphones, which makes for a more natural and consistent delivery during long sessions.

The sound of the ATH-M50x
On the listening side, the Audio-Technica ATH-M50xSTS-WL uses the technology behind the ATH-M50x monitor headphone, of which more than three million units have been sold worldwide. Large-aperture 45 mm drivers with rare-earth magnets and CCAW voice coils deliver clarity across an extended frequency range, together with a deep and accurate bass response. That makes it suitable for detailed monitoring of anything from your own voice to in-game sound.

Low-latency 2.4 GHz wireless
The 2.4 GHz digital wireless connection is designed to prevent audio and video falling out of sync, while staying stable and resistant to interference during livestreams, gaming and content creation. The supplied USB transceiver makes it plug and play with a PC or games console. Controls on the earcups let you adjust volume and noise reduction without interrupting your session.
Battery life is up to 24 hours. When the battery runs out, you can keep using the Audio-Technica ATH-M50xSTS-WL over a wired USB connection with the supplied cable while it charges.
Comfort for long sessions
Audio-Technica includes two types of ear pads: breathable mesh pads for long wear, and leather pads for better isolation and sound quality. The headset folds up for compact transport. It joins the existing wired XLR and USB models of the StreamSet series, and the more affordable Audio-Technica ATH-M20xSTS that we covered in August.

One wireless device for sound and voice
The idea behind the Audio-Technica ATH-M50xSTS-WL is simple: one wireless device that handles both monitoring and voice capture, without a separate desk microphone, audio interface or cable clutter. For streamers and podcasters who work from a compact desk, or gamers who switch between a PC and a console, that is a practical advantage. The wired StreamSet models remain the choice for creators who already own an XLR interface, while the wireless version is aimed at those who want the same sound and microphone quality with fewer cables. For that group, the Audio-Technica ATH-M50xSTS-WL brings the familiar M50x sound and a 20-series microphone together in one wireless headset.
