The Sigma Acoustics MAAT collection is the statement loudspeaker line of the Italian manufacturer from Porto Viro, in the Veneto region. Sigma Acoustics calls it “the audiophile paradise”: radical geometries, vector dispersion and very high efficiency. The current reference is the MAAT Vector XAC, and the brand is now expanding the family with two new models: the flagship MAAT Zenith and the compact MAAT XS, both listed as coming soon.
The Sigma Acoustics MAAT philosophy
Sigma Acoustics has been building loudspeakers by hand since 2004, alongside White Gold cables and Tourbillon turntables. The MAAT line brings everything the company has learned together. The recipe of the Sigma Acoustics MAAT is clear: three-way loudspeakers with six drivers per channel, 100 dB efficiency and a dispersion that can be adjusted. The drivers are custom-made, with a Heil AMT tweeter, an Alnico/Papiro midrange and 15-inch woofers.
That 100 dB sensitivity is the key. It means these large loudspeakers can be driven by low-power amplifiers, including small valve amplifiers, something that is impossible with most flagship designs.

MAAT Vector XAC: the reference
The Sigma Acoustics MAAT Vector XAC is the second edition of the MAAT loudspeaker, with a reduced footprint. It is a three-way bass-reflex design with six drivers per channel. At the top sits a next-generation neodymium dipolar Heil AMT tweeter. The midrange is a high-sensitivity Papiro unit with an Alnico magnet, and the low end is handled by two 15-inch (42 cm) carbon fibre woofers made with vacuum-infused resin.
The crossover uses gentle 6 dB/octave slopes and White Gold Litz wiring. The “Vector” in the name refers to the dispersion, which can be adjusted on all planes to suit the room. Sensitivity is 100 dB at 8 ohms, and Sigma Acoustics says the speaker is easy to drive even with 15 watts of valve power. Each cabinet measures 80 x 64 x 185 cm and weighs 340 kg.

MAAT Zenith: the new pinnacle
The brand describes the Sigma Acoustics MAAT Zenith as the new pinnacle of the collection. According to coverage on Mono & Stereo, the Zenith is a six-way horn and waveguide-loaded design, built in Italy as a limited series. It uses GOTO compression drivers for the upper frequencies, a 15-inch woofer and a 15-inch Sigma bass horn unit, with a claimed sensitivity from 104 dB and a frequency range of 16 Hz to 50 kHz. At 380 kg per speaker, this is a true statement product. Fans of high-efficiency horn designs may also want to read about the JBL Summit Series.
MAAT XS: the philosophy in a compact format
At the other end of the range, the Sigma Acoustics MAAT XS brings the MAAT ideas to a more compact format. Sigma Acoustics showed the XS at the Gran Galà dell’Alta Fedeltà in Milan. Full specifications have not been published yet.
