UNio Formula 12 is the name of UNio’s new dual-stage hybrid DC power supply, built to deliver ultra-low-noise, stable power for network streaming equipment such as its own Poki network switches and routers, as well as other DC-powered gear. The UNio Formula 12 integrates the “MBU” (Magnetic Block Unit), which processes AC sine waves, with the core AC-to-DC conversion component UNio calls the Formula Power Architecture.
Two stages of noise control
In the first stage, the Magnetic Block Unit independently corrects and reduces noise in the incoming AC power. It is engineered to eliminate unwanted inrush currents and voltage peaks, safeguarding the rest of the power architecture while delivering what UNio describes as unwavering, rock-solid DC stability. The second stage uses selected power supply modules with three times more constant-voltage regulator transistor components than standard designs, combined with multi-stage LC filter circuits, to eliminate secondary noise and suppress power surges.

12A / 144W, close to 90% efficient
Under this dual-stage hybrid processing, the UNio Formula 12 provides a stable power output of 12A / 144W, which UNio says is twice the ample high-current output of conventional power supply products in its class. Where traditional linear power supplies waste a significant amount of electricity as heat, the Formula 12 is rated at close to 90% conversion efficiency, reducing unnecessary power loss and precisely transforming input power into the supply required by connected equipment.

Built for the network rack
UNio positions the Formula 12 as a drop-in upgrade for anyone running a network switch, router or other DC-powered component as part of a streaming system, with the stated goal of giving sensitive circuitry an incomparably deep, pitch-black background so microscopic musical detail can come through undisturbed by high-frequency noise. Two DC outputs share the total output current, and the unit ships with two DC cables (1m and 2m, both terminated in a 5.5 x 2.1mm plug) with audio-grade core and shielding.

Compact, with headroom to spare
Despite its high-current output, the UNio Formula 12 measures a compact 18 x 17.5 x 6.9cm (7.1 x 6.9 x 2.7in) and weighs just 2kg (4.41 lbs), making it easy to place on a network rack or equipment shelf alongside the switches and routers it is designed to power. It accepts a wide 100-240V AC input at 50-60Hz, so the same unit works regardless of local mains voltage, and is rated to operate between -5 degreesC and 65 degreesC with derating at the extremes of that range. The Formula 12 is available in both white and black finishes.
