Built around a large isolation transformer rated at 2,300 watts, the Oehlbach Power Station 1009 isolates connected components from mains-borne interference while gold-plated contacts and a fully metal, aluminium-fronted housing round off a design pitched squarely at serious listeners.
Isolation transformer at the core
The heart of the Oehlbach Power Station 1009 is a heavy encapsulated toroidal isolation transformer. Rather than simply filtering the incoming mains, the transformer galvanically separates connected equipment from the household grid, blocking DC offset and suppressing ground loops and high-frequency interference pulses before they ever reach an amplifier, DAC or turntable. Oehlbach rates the unit for a load of up to 2,300 watts at 230V/50Hz, with a 10-ampere input current, so it can comfortably feed a full stack of source components, a preamplifier and a power amp simultaneously.
Separately filtered outputs
On the rear panel, the Power Station 1009 splits its sockets into filtered and unfiltered groups so digital and analogue gear are never fighting each other for clean current. Digitally filtered outlets are intended for network players and streamers, while a separate set of analogue-filtered outlets suits amplifiers and phono stages. A gold-plated ground terminal is also provided, letting owners properly earth a turntable to reduce hum and improve signal purity.
