McIntosh has introduced the McIntosh MX124 A/V Processor, a new flagship home theater processor the brand describes as bringing cinematic excellence in the McIntosh way: engineering precision paired with the art of storytelling, so that every element of a system is connected and nothing is compromised. With 13.4 channels of immersive audio, 8K Ultra HD clarity and support for the latest HDR formats, the McIntosh MX124 is positioned as a new standard for luxury home theater.
13.4 channels and full 8K support
At the core of the McIntosh MX124 sits a 13.4-channel audio architecture paired with 7 HDMI inputs and 3 HDMI outputs, supporting 8K at 60Hz and 4K at 120Hz alongside eARC and ARC. Surround formats are comprehensively covered, with Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, Sony 360 Reality Audio and MPEG-H Audio all supported, giving installers and homeowners flexibility across today’s most demanding movie and gaming soundtracks.

Room correction and reference-grade video
Picture quality on the McIntosh MX124 is handled through support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HLG, delivering what McIntosh calls vivid realism across a wide range of source material. On the audio side, Dirac Live Room Correction with Bass Control is built in, letting the processor adapt its output to the acoustic quirks of a specific room rather than relying on generic tuning presets. Together with the McIntosh MX124’s 8K/4K video pipeline, the goal is a system where sound and picture are tuned as one connected experience rather than two separate pieces of gear.
Streaming, control and installer-friendly design
Connectivity on the McIntosh MX124 spans Apple AirPlay, Bluetooth, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect and Roon Ready, covering most of the major streaming ecosystems a music-first household is likely to use. The processor also carries Control4 certification and a set of installer-friendly features, positioning it as a straightforward addition for custom-install professionals building out multi-room, multi-zone systems around a McIntosh-anchored home theater.
The MX124 follows the earlier McIntosh MX123 A/V Processor, extending the line’s channel count and video specification while keeping the same emphasis on room correction and multi-format surround support that has defined recent McIntosh processors.

Pricing and availability
The McIntosh MX124 will be available beginning July 2026 through McIntosh dealers. McIntosh has not published a suggested retail price for the MX124; buyers are directed to contact a local authorized dealer for pricing and availability in their region.
