Lyssna Acoustics, a new Dutch loudspeaker brand, is stepping out of stealth mode with a modular system built to grow alongside the room it plays in. The company’s debut range, Lyssna Modular, starts with a compact bookshelf speaker called the Lyssna Monitor and launches on Kickstarter on 10 October 2026 – the same weekend Lyssna Acoustics introduces the range to the public at the Dutch Audio Event in Veldhoven. “Lyssna” is Swedish for “listen,” and the brand says the word carries a deeper meaning in Scandinavian culture: a sense of deep awareness and immersion in what is being heard.
Two Founders Behind Lyssna Acoustics
Lyssna Acoustics was founded by Kobus Oomen and Ruud Moerman, who spent two and a half years developing the system behind the scenes before going public. The brand combines Dutch design with Czech manufacturing expertise: Lyssna speakers are designed in the Netherlands and handmade in Europe. The philosophy driving the Lyssna Monitor is a simple one – keep the crossover as uncomplicated as possible, since the human ear is most sensitive in the midrange, exactly where vocals and musical detail live. Lyssna Acoustics says that approach improves dynamics, clarity and overall coherence, and it is why the compact 4.5-inch driver was a deliberate choice rather than a compromise.
How the Modular System Grows
The idea behind Lyssna Modular is that a listener never has to replace what they already own. Someone can start with a pair of Lyssna Monitors on the matching stands, then add a Bass Module later to turn the setup into a full floorstanding system without extra cabling or a new pair of speakers. Lyssna Acoustics pairs the Monitor’s 4.5-inch driver with a 7.5-inch woofer in the Bass Module once a room calls for more low end, taking the workload off the smaller driver rather than fighting it. The Lyssna Monitor ships in four matte finishes – Graphite, Petrol, Ultramarine and Cream – so the modular system stays visually consistent as it grows.
Pricing and availability
Lyssna Acoustics is funding the range through Kickstarter rather than outside investors, which the founders say lets them stay independent and focused on the product rather than a bank’s timeline. Early-bird pricing for a pair of Lyssna Monitors starts at €2,100 (down from a planned €2,750), with a signed, limited first-batch edition also priced at €2,100. A pair of Monitors with matching stands is €2,460 early-bird, and the full system – a pair of Monitors plus a pair of Bass Modules – is €4,560 early-bird, or €6,000 at standard pricing. The Kickstarter campaign has a €65,000 funding goal, runs for 30 days from 10 October 2026, and backers can expect delivery in March 2027.
