Lockwood Loudspeakers, the British audio company with nearly a century of acoustic engineering behind it, has joined the 2WA Group, a marketing and distribution partner that helps independent audio brands establish themselves in the United States. The move puts Lockwood’s speakers in front of a growing roster of North American audio/video dealers for the first time under a dedicated US distribution structure.
Lockwood was founded in 1930 by Stanley Timms, a carpenter with what the company calls a passion for acoustic excellence. Starting out building radio cabinets, Timms shifted focus in 1948 to loudspeakers designed to be, in the brand’s own words, truly musical and convincing – a philosophy that has carried through to today’s range.
A studio pedigree built on BBC history
Beyond the audiophile market, Lockwood’s reputation rests heavily on its studio and broadcast credentials. The company’s long partnership with the BBC helped establish it as a preferred loudspeaker brand for television, broadcast and recording studios worldwide, and its speakers remain in use at some of the industry’s most respected facilities, including Abbey Road.

Why 2WA Group and why now
“Lockwood’s loudspeakers are the hit of every expo where they are seen and heard, bringing acoustic precision, balance, and gorgeous aesthetics to one of Britain’s most enduring high-end audio companies,” said Walter Schofield, co-founder and co-director of 2WA, LLC. He added that the brand’s speakers are “admired by the pickiest audiophiles and music-lovers,” while also carrying weight in the professional broadcast world. 2WA positions itself as a complete marketing and distribution partner for independent audio companies aiming to build their brand and their business in North America, run by industry veterans Walter Schofield and Walter Swanbon. Lockwood’s move mirrors a broader pattern of heritage British marques seeking fresh distribution muscle abroad, not unlike Creek Audio’s recent push with its Cymatics loudspeaker range.

What US dealers can expect
As part of the 2WA roster, Lockwood Loudspeakers will be marketed across a variety of channels and venues while becoming available to the distributor’s expanding base of AV dealers. “Lockwood Speakers is considered the high bar in British audio, whether it’s in a luxurious home or top-flight recording studio,” Schofield said. “Our dealers and their customers are in for a truly unique audio treat.”

Pricing and availability
Lockwood has not published US retail pricing alongside this distribution announcement. The brand’s range, including the Universal Stanley, Major and Academy series, will become available through 2WA Group’s North American dealer network in the coming months; further details can be found via Lockwood Loudspeakers’ official website.
