Esoteric has launched the Esoteric Grandioso K1XE, a flagship Super Audio CD player and DAC featuring the company’s next-generation Master Sound Discrete DAC G2, alongside the optional Grandioso PS1XE external power supply. Both products will be available worldwide from the beginning of November 2026.
Esoteric Grandioso K1XE: A New Discrete DAC Platform
The K1XE pairs Esoteric’s proprietary VRDS-ATLAS SACD transport mechanism with the Master Sound Discrete DAC G2, a next-generation, FPGA-based multi-level delta-sigma D/A converter designed and manufactured entirely in-house rather than built around a commercial DAC chipset. The G2 platform uses a proprietary 64-bit/512-Fs delta-sigma modulator, independently optimized FPGA processing algorithms for DSD and PCM, and a high-current dual-buffer output stage derived from the flagship Grandioso D1X SE, with four buffer circuits per channel. It’s the same family of engineering Esoteric has used to update its N-01XE network player and T-01 MagneDrive turntable over the past year, part of a broader push to bring its in-house “Master Sound” components to more of the Grandioso range.
The K1XE employs a fully dual-mono DAC configuration with five independent linear power supplies dedicated to the left and right DAC sections, the transport mechanism, digital audio circuitry, and microcomputer control. A new ES-Link 5 digital input lets it connect directly to Esoteric’s Grandioso N1T streaming transport, pairing disc playback and network streaming through the same conversion platform.

A Decade of Grandioso Flagship Players
The Esoteric Grandioso K1XE is the latest step in a lineage that stretches back to the original Grandioso K1 of 2016, followed by the K1X in 2019 and the K1X SE in 2023. Each generation has kept the same basic formula — Esoteric’s own VRDS transport mechanism paired with a DAC built from discrete components rather than an off-the-shelf chip — while steadily refining the circuitry and power supply architecture. The K1XE continues that pattern rather than reinventing it, which is consistent with how Esoteric has historically treated its flagship disc players: as long-term platforms that get meaningfully upgraded every few years instead of replaced outright.
Grandioso PS1XE: An Optional External Power Supply
The Grandioso PS1XE is a dedicated external power supply for the Esoteric Grandioso K1XE and the Grandioso N1 network player, also compatible with the earlier K1X and K1X SE. It houses four independent power transformers for the left and right D/A conversion stages and their output buffers; when connected, the K1XE’s corresponding internal transformers are disabled, reducing vibration and magnetic interference in the main chassis. It’s an upgrade path rather than a requirement — the K1XE is a complete player on its own — but it gives existing Grandioso owners a way to extend the system later without replacing the player itself.
Build and Connectivity
Both products share Esoteric’s familiar Grandioso construction: a multi-layer chassis to prevent interference between circuit sections, a semi-floating top panel for a more open sound, and advanced isolation feet. The K1XE offers balanced XLR and ES-Link Analog outputs plus RCA, a 10MHz clock input compatible with the Grandioso G1X master clock, and digital inputs spanning ES-Link 5, XLR, optical and USB-B. The player weighs 34.3kg; the optional PS1XE adds another 23.3kg, bringing the combined weight of a fully loaded system to nearly 58kg before cabling — a reminder that, at this level, build mass is treated as part of the engineering rather than an afterthought.
Esoteric Grandioso K1XE Pricing and Availability
The K1XE is priced at $45,000 (€44,000 / £37,999), with the Grandioso PS1XE at $19,000 (€19,000 / £16,500). Both ship worldwide from early November 2026 through Esoteric’s international distributor network, including Playback Distribution in the US. Full specifications are available on Esoteric’s official website.
