Epson will showcase its Q-Series home projection lineup at CEDIA Expo 2026, running September 1-4 in Denver, Colorado. At Booth #1319, the brand’s flagship Epson QL7000 4K HDR laser projector headlines two full-scale home cinema demonstrations built around Stewart Filmscreen’s latest acoustically transparent screens, illustrating how high-brightness projection can now compete with direct-view displays in both dedicated theaters and ambient-lit living spaces.

“Advancements in projection technology are giving integrators more options for delivering compelling large-screen entertainment in spaces that may have traditionally been challenging for projection,” said Melvin Diaz, senior product manager, home entertainment, Epson America. “At CEDIA Expo, we’re excited to demonstrate how the Q-Series platform combines high brightness, exceptional image performance and a compact, thoughtfully designed form factor to bring immersive cinema experiences to more rooms.”

The Art of Home Cinema

The centerpiece demo pairs the Epson QL7000 – a 10,000-lumen 4K 3LCD laser projector – with Stewart Filmscreen’s new, slimmer Director’s Choice Generation 2 four-way masking screen, stretched to a cinematic 215 inches in a 2.0:1 aspect ratio. The setup is tuned for the growing library of 2.0:1 streaming content and is built to showcase the impact of high-brightness projection paired with strong HDR performance at genuinely cinematic scale. Behind the screen sits a StudioTek 130 G4 acoustically transparent surface, which lets Epson keep left-center-right speakers hidden while preserving precise localization and a cohesive soundstage.

The Epson QL7000 pairs 10,000 lumens of brightness with 4K resolution enhancement and HDR10 support.

Elegantly Invisible Projection

A second QL7000 setup targets rooms with more ambient light, pairing the projector with Stewart Filmscreen’s 160-inch Balón Edge Phantom HALR+ ambient-light-rejecting screen. The acoustically transparent material maintains image contrast even with some room light present while still supporting behind-screen speakers. A third station pairs the QL7000 with Epson’s ELPLX02S short-throw lens and a 135-inch Luxus G2 Electric Roller Screen in GrayMatte 70 material – a ceiling-integrated install where only the lens is visible and the screen retracts out of sight when not in use. Both installs are meant to show projection as a genuine alternative to direct-view displays and video walls, minimizing the visual footprint of the whole system.

Q-Series Performance Comparison

Rounding out the booth, Epson will run a live, side-by-side Q-Series comparison highlighting brightness, HDR and color differences between models, giving integrators a clearer sense of which Q-Series projector fits which room and application.

Best of High End previously covered another flagship large-venue laser projector from a rival brand in our Panasonic PT-RQ45 debut coverage, another example of how far laser projection has come for demanding installs.

More information on Epson’s home projection lineup is available at epson.com.

For integrators walking the CEDIA Expo 2026 show floor, the Epson QL7000 demonstrations offer a useful reference point: two very different room types, one shared projector platform. That flexibility, paired with the QL7000’s headline brightness and HDR performance, is exactly the pitch Epson is making to custom installers this year, and it is likely to keep the Q-Series line high on shortlists for dedicated theaters and open-plan living spaces alike.

Marco Lisi is the publisher of Best of High End, part of AV Concepts BV. His path into audio started early: as a teenager he was drawn into the world of free radio, presenting shows and living immersed in music every day. In his early twenties he ran his own production studio for five years, creating jingles and commercials — hands-on training in sound design, pro-audio workflows, and critical listening through studio monitors that still shapes how he evaluates gear today. He also spent years DJing in clubs before moving into publishing, first at two earlier online magazines before founding Best of High End. His hi-fi and home cinema passion was inherited from his father, an inveterate system-swapper. Marco's first setup — a confirmation gift — paired AKAI separates with entry-level Bowers & Wilkins speakers, a brand he stayed loyal to for years as his system grew from stereo into full surround and home cinema. Like many enthusiasts, he went through an extended "audiophile" phase chasing the next upgrade, before settling into a more grounded view: gear as a means to enjoy music and film, not an end in itself. Years of critical listening have given him a well-trained ear — the ability to characterize a system or pinpoint a change in the chain quickly and accurately. Just as important, his teaching background (a Belgian "regent" degree in Dutch language) gives him the tools to translate those listening impressions into clear, readable writing.
