SIM2 has introduced three new projectors at CEDIA Expo 2026 in Denver, all built on the same UltraNero platform: the SIM2 UltraNero 4S, the UltraNero 4S HC and the UltraNero 4S DUO. The Italian home cinema specialist, which has designed and engineered projectors since 1995, says each model answers the same underlying question — will the viewer actually see the difference — in a different way, depending on the room, the screen and the installation.
SIM2 UltraNero 4S: the Platform, Expanded
The SIM2 UltraNero 4S builds on the original UltraNero 4, which brought over 95% brightness uniformity, ceramic optical components and a laser source rated up to 20,000 hours (30,000 in ECO mode) to high-end private cinema. The 4S extends that platform with DynamicBlack and ExtremeBlack management refined and stored separately for SDR and HDR, ExtremeBlack active on every input, and two SIM2 display modes with SIM2 colorimetry applied out of the box. Up to five installation setups can be saved to lens memory and recalled instantly, and a new cooling algorithm keeps operating noise down while the projector works harder. UltraNero 4S HC: Built for Contrast in a Controlled Room
The UltraNero 4S HC keeps the control, digital geometry, memory and image management of the platform but is built around a completely new optical bench designed specifically for contrast performance, tonal separation and perceived depth, paired with its own tone mapping and HDR curve developed by SIM2 R&D. SIM2 positions it for fully light-controlled theaters with a moderate screen size, where deeper native blacks matter more than raw output. Specifications: up to 5,000 lumen, DLP 4K HDR-10, below 30 dB, available December 2026.
UltraNero 4S DUO: Two Engines, One Image
For the largest screens, the UltraNero 4S DUO splits the imaging work between two deliberately non-identical native 4K laser DLP engines — one tuned for the brilliance and energy of highlights, the other, with its own high-contrast optical configuration and lens, for depth, tonal separation and shadow detail. Electrically controlled micrometric optical shift and precision warping hold the two engines in pixel-accurate convergence, with a combined EOTF and calibration so the pair behaves as one projection system. SIM2 says the color gamut stays within DCI-P3 while available color volume doubles compared with a single engine, and viewers perceive up to 30% more contrast and up to 50% richer color saturation. Specifications: up to 12,000 lumen, operating noise below 33 dB.
All three SIM2 UltraNero 4S projectors are on display at CEDIA Expo 2026, booth #1646, with dedicated demonstrations running in Sound Room #8 throughout the show, alongside a presentation on SIM2’s “Seeing First” engineering philosophy by Professor Alan Chalmers of WMG, University of Warwick. SIM2 joins other manufacturers using CEDIA Expo 2026 to expand their projector line-ups, including Epson’s QL7000 4K laser projector.
Pricing and Availability
The SIM2 UltraNero 4S and UltraNero 4S DUO are available through SIM2’s network of specialist partners now; the UltraNero 4S HC becomes available in December 2026. SIM2 did not disclose pricing for any of the three models in its CEDIA Expo announcement.
