AXPONA (Audio Expo North America) has once again cemented its status as North America’s premier high-end audio event, delivering its biggest and most dynamic show to date. This year’s edition drew a record-breaking 12,546 attendees — a 15% increase over 2025 — along with more than 750 brands from over 50 countries. The Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center buzzed with energy as a noticeably younger and more diverse crowd filled the halls, highlighted by a remarkable 52% surge in Gen Z passes.
The shift signals a clear evolution in the high-fidelity audio industry: high-end sound is no longer just for seasoned enthusiasts — it’s capturing the imagination of a new generation of music lovers.
“AXPONA 2026 exceeded all expectations — from record attendance to the incredible energy across the Listening Rooms, Expo Hall, Ear Gear Experience, Car Audio Showcase and new ALTI Pavilion,” said Liz Smith, VP and Event Director for AXPONA. “It’s exciting to see the passion for high-end audio continue to grow, bringing together music lovers, industry leaders, and young enthusiasts for an unforgettable experience.”
Record-Breaking Listening Rooms and Immersive Experiences
At the heart of the show were 235 dedicated Listening Rooms spread across 12 floors — the highest number in AXPONA history. These private, meticulously curated spaces allowed attendees to experience the world’s finest audio systems in ideal conditions, presented by the industry’s top manufacturers, retailers, distributors, and brands.
The Ear Gear Experience was the largest yet, offering hands-on access to the latest headphones, personal audio electronics, cables, and accessories. Meanwhile, the bustling Expo Hall housed the popular Record Fair, where vinyl enthusiasts browsed turntables, tonearms, cartridges, racks, stands, and both new and used records.
Industry leaders also hosted sessions in the Master Class Theater, sharing insights directly with attendees on the show floor.
Car Audio Showcase and Live Music Highlights
The Car Audio Showcase delivered thrilling demonstrations from leading high-performance car audio brands, complete with a Sound Quality (SQ) competition that tested systems for ultimate clarity and precision inside vehicles. The winner was announced on Sunday during the show.
As always, the nightly Live Concerts were a major draw. On Friday, acclaimed jazz pianist Caelan Cardello — a rising star and recipient of the BMI Future Jazz Master Award — performed to a packed house, blending classic jazz traditions with contemporary flair. On Saturday, award-winning singer-songwriter Amber Rubarth took the stage with her soulful voice and cinematic songwriting, delivering an emotionally rich set that spanned folk, Americana, and indie influences.
Education and Community at the Core
AXPONA’s renowned seminar program once again proved invaluable. Sessions covered essential topics including HiFi system building, acoustic room treatment, and high-resolution streaming, giving attendees practical knowledge straight from engineers, designers, and musicians.
It was incredible to see our exhibitors joined by dealers, distributors, and press from over 50 countries, all while welcoming a new generation of enthusiasts to the show, added Smith. The record-breaking attendance and the influx of younger, more diverse listeners prove that AXPONA is not just the premier B2B gathering for the industry in North America, but a growing, vibrant destination for all music lovers. We look forward to building on this momentum and welcoming everyone back next year.
AXPONA 2027 is scheduled for April 9–11, 2027 at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center. For high-end audio enthusiasts, it’s already the must-attend event on the calendar.
