In a significant development for the high-end audio industry, Sound & Fury LLC has acquired AXPONA (Audio Expo North America), the largest and most influential high-end audio event in North America.

This strategic acquisition combines AXPONA’s established reputation as the premier gathering place for audiophiles, manufacturers, and music lovers with Sound & Fury’s ambitious vision for the future of high-fidelity audio.

  • A Personal Passion Drives the Acquisition
  • Continuity and Stability for Exhibitors and Attendees
  • Momentum Building in a Changing Industry
  • What to Expect at AXPONA

A Personal Passion Drives the Acquisition

Henry Wu, owner of Sound & Fury LLC, expressed deep personal connection to the hobby and the event:

“I had my first audiophile experience in sixth grade at my best friend’s house — and it changed the course of my life. Decades later, I am honored to serve as the next steward of what I believe is the greatest audio event in the world, alongside one of the best teams in the industry.”

Wu’s long-standing passion for high-end audio is expected to bring fresh energy and innovation to the show while preserving its core values.

Continuity and Stability for Exhibitors and Attendees

One of the most reassuring aspects of the acquisition is the decision to keep the existing event team fully intact. This ensures a smooth transition for exhibitors, sponsors, and visitors.

The 2027 edition of AXPONA is already confirmed and will take place as scheduled:

  • Dates: April 9–11, 2027
  • Venue: Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel & Convention Center, Schaumburg, Illinois

Enhanced programming and exciting new features are planned for 2027 and will be announced in the coming months.

Momentum Building in a Changing Industry

AXPONA continues to experience strong growth. According to Event Director Liz Smith:

“AXPONA 2026 set a new benchmark for energy, engagement and scale. The growth we’re seeing reflects a community that is evolving in exciting ways. We’re excited to build on that momentum as we expand the show for 2027 and beyond.”

The event has successfully attracted a new generation of listeners while maintaining its appeal to longtime enthusiasts — a balance that will remain central under the new ownership.

What to Expect at AXPONA

AXPONA remains the ultimate destination for experiencing high-end audio. The three-day event features:

  • More than 230 high-fidelity listening rooms
  • Extensive Expo Hall and Ear Gear Experience with thousands of products
  • Dedicated Car Audio Showcase
  • Live musical performances
  • Educational seminars and expert demonstrations

Attendees can move freely between rooms to listen, compare, and discover the latest in high-end audio equipment, headphones, vinyl, cables, and accessories.

Marco Lisi is the publisher of Best of High End, part of AV Concepts BV. His path into audio started early: as a teenager he was drawn into the world of free radio, presenting shows and living immersed in music every day. In his early twenties he ran his own production studio for five years, creating jingles and commercials — hands-on training in sound design, pro-audio workflows, and critical listening through studio monitors that still shapes how he evaluates gear today. He also spent years DJing in clubs before moving into publishing, first at two earlier online magazines before founding Best of High End. His hi-fi and home cinema passion was inherited from his father, an inveterate system-swapper. Marco's first setup — a confirmation gift — paired AKAI separates with entry-level Bowers & Wilkins speakers, a brand he stayed loyal to for years as his system grew from stereo into full surround and home cinema. Like many enthusiasts, he went through an extended "audiophile" phase chasing the next upgrade, before settling into a more grounded view: gear as a means to enjoy music and film, not an end in itself. Years of critical listening have given him a well-trained ear — the ability to characterize a system or pinpoint a change in the chain quickly and accurately. Just as important, his teaching background (a Belgian "regent" degree in Dutch language) gives him the tools to translate those listening impressions into clear, readable writing.
