ASCENDO Immersive Audio will unveil THE8 PRO PASSIVE LED WEDGE at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2026, positioning the new speaker as a solution to the acoustic challenges posed by large, thin LED video walls in home theaters, screening rooms and post-production suites.
Designed around the space constraints of modern LED installations, THE8 PRO features a shallow, low-profile enclosure intended to maximize screen real estate while delivering high SPL, tight control and consistent coverage. ASCENDO says the wedge’s minimized height lets designers expand screen size without sacrificing sonic performance.
Three-way passive design
The speaker is a three-way passive design built on ASCENDO’s point-source coaxial heritage and a multi-entry waveguide concept. A central 8-inch coaxial point source handles mids and highs, flanked by a horizontal D’Appolito-style pair of 8-inch woofers covering roughly 75–250 Hz. The company rates THE8 PRO’s frequency response at 75 Hz–20 kHz with up to 131 dB max SPL.
Point-source coherence
ASCENDO emphasizes point-source coherence as central to the design: shared waveguide mid/high dispersion and precise timing on- and off-axis produce a cohesive soundstage, anchored dialogue and smooth, believable pans—qualities that matter for both creative decision-making in studios and emotional impact in screening rooms.
Coverage is specified at 100° horizontal by 60° vertical with a 12° wedge geometry. That vertical pattern and wedge angle are intended to place acoustic energy into seating areas rather than ceilings or floors, supporting typical cinema layouts of up to about three seating rows and 15 meters (45 feet) depth. The top-and-bottom mounting topology can also create a stable phantom center image where a physical center speaker behind the LED image isn’t possible.
Integration features
Integration features include keyhole hangers for quick mounting, side V-brackets for aimed wall/ceiling installs, a 90-degree bayonet-style invisible mount for tight-access setups, and a cable groove sized for SpeakON connectors and premium cabling—letting the speaker sit flush to the wall in tight LED installations.
THE8 PRO disappears into the architecture—and then hits you with the kind of clarity and impact that gives you goosebumps, said Geoffrey Heinzel, co-managing partner of ASCENDO, highlighting the company’s intent to remove compromise between screen aesthetics and reference-level sound.
Applications
While aimed at LED-wall deployments, ASCENDO notes THE8 PRO is also suited to non-acoustically transparent screens and demanding immersive roles—top speakers, surrounds, high surrounds, studios and screening rooms where size and performance must coexist.
ISE attendees can hear THE8 PRO in ASCENDO’s Luxury Immersion Cinema at stand #2J500 during the show (3–6 February 2026).
