The beyerdynamic MMX 130 wireless is available in stores from today. beyerdynamic first showed the open-back gaming headset at gamescom 2026, together with its closed-back sibling, the MMX 100 wireless. Now the MMX 130 wireless joins the growing MMX portfolio, priced at €129 and offered in Black and Arctic White.
Why the beyerdynamic MMX 130 wireless goes open-back
Most gaming headsets are closed designs that shut out the world around you. The beyerdynamic MMX 130 wireless deliberately takes the other route. Thanks to its open-back construction, the headset creates a natural, spacious soundstage that gives expansive game worlds, subtle ambient sounds and big soundtracks the room they deserve. beyerdynamic aims it at story-driven titles, open-world games, RPGs and simulations, where atmosphere and spatial awareness matter as much as pinpoint detail.
That approach will feel familiar to anyone who knows beyerdynamic’s open studio and hi-fi headphones. The Heilbronn company brings the same thinking to an accessible price point for gamers.

Titanium-coated 40 mm driver and a focus on comfort
The new addition focuses on the essentials. A specially tuned, titanium-coated 40 mm driver takes care of precise sound reproduction. The open design, combined with breathable velour ear pads, promotes airflow, so your ears stay cool during long sessions. At 265 grams, the beyerdynamic MMX 130 wireless is also light enough to forget you are wearing it.
Sustainability gets attention too. The battery is replaceable and delivers more than 80 hours of playback per charge, and you can keep using the headset while it charges. Spare parts and ear pads are sold separately, which should extend the lifespan of the headset considerably.

Connectivity for every platform
The beyerdynamic MMX 130 wireless connects to PCs, consoles, smartphones and handhelds. You can use Bluetooth 6.0, the supplied low-latency USB-C dongle, or a cable for analogue or USB audio. That makes it easy to switch between devices without being locked into a single platform. A boom microphone handles voice chat in multiplayer sessions, and because the headset also plays nicely with phones and handhelds, it can double as an everyday pair of headphones for music and films. Just keep in mind that an open-back design lets sound in and out, so it is best suited to a quiet room rather than a train or an open-plan office.
beyerdynamic has also released an official feature video for the headset:

Part of the growing MMX family
When we covered the launch of the beyerdynamic MMX 100 and MMX 130 wireless in August, beyerdynamic described the pair as one audio DNA with two gaming philosophies. The closed-back MMX 100 wireless isolates you from your surroundings, while the beyerdynamic MMX 130 wireless opens up the sound. Choosing between them is a matter of listening preference rather than quality. Both share the same Bluetooth 6.0 platform, the same long battery life and the same focus on replaceable parts, and both come in Black and Arctic White.
