Closed-back MMX 100 wireless and open-back MMX 130 wireless share one audio DNA at gamescom 2026

beyerdynamic brings the MMX 100 wireless and MMX 130 wireless gaming headsets to gamescom 2026

beyerdynamic is bringing two new gaming headsets to gamescom 2026, and the beyerdynamic MMX 100 MMX 130 duo shares one audio DNA across two very different listening experiences: closed-back isolation on the MMX 100 wireless, open-back spaciousness on the MMX 130 wireless.

Choosing between the two is a question of listening preference rather than quality. Rather than piling on unnecessary features and gimmicks, both headsets focus on the essentials: precise sound, comfort, flexible connectivity and long-lasting build quality, making beyerdynamic’s gaming audio expertise accessible to a wider audience than before.

MMX 100 Wireless: Full Focus on the Game

The MMX 100 wireless pairs a closed-back design with precisely tuned, studio-inspired sound, reducing distracting external noise so players can pinpoint fast-moving in-game details during multiplayer matches or long sessions. A detachable META VOICE microphone handles voice chat, and the headset connects to PCs, consoles, smartphones and handhelds via Bluetooth 6.0, a bundled low-latency USB dongle, or a cable. Soft velour ear pads and a 275-gram build keep it comfortable over long sessions, and beyerdynamic says the battery and several components are replaceable to extend the headset’s lifespan.

MMX 130 Wireless: More Space for the Gaming World

Where the MMX 100 wireless isolates, the MMX 130 wireless opens up. Its open-back design creates a natural, spacious soundstage that beyerdynamic pitches at story-driven, open-world and RPG games, along with simulations, where atmosphere and spatial awareness matter as much as raw detail. A specially tuned, titanium-coated 40mm driver handles the detail work, while the open-back structure improves airflow; combined with breathable velour pads and a 265-gram weight, beyerdynamic says it stays comfortable through long sessions. “Those who want to experience gaming worlds as naturally and spatially as possible will find an exciting alternative in the open-back MMX 130 wireless,” said Matthias Heilig, beyerdynamic’s Product Marketing Manager for Gaming.

Pricing and availability

Both headsets share more than their driver philosophy. Each ships with a modular ear pad and cable system so worn parts can be replaced without buying a new headset, and both pair with the beyerdynamic app for custom EQ presets, sidetone adjustment and firmware updates. beyerdynamic positions the beyerdynamic MMX 100 MMX 130 pairing as the wireless evolution of its long-running wired MMX series, carrying the same tuning philosophy into Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity that also works across PCs, consoles, smartphones and handhelds, so players are not locked into a single platform when they switch between devices.

The beyerdynamic MMX 100 wireless launches on 1 September 2026 in Black and Arctic White at a recommended retail price of €99. The MMX 130 wireless follows in October 2026, also in Black and Arctic White, at €129. Both will be available through the beyerdynamic online shop, Amazon and specialist retailers from their respective launch dates, with spare parts and ear pads sold separately. Visitors to gamescom 2026 in Cologne, where beyerdynamic is First Presenter at the Indie Arena Booth, will be able to try the MMX 100 wireless at selected stands.

Key specifications

  • Transducer: dynamic, 20Hz to 20,000Hz frequency response
  • Bluetooth: version 6.0 with low-latency USB-C dongle and analog/USB audio options
  • Battery: more than 80 hours runtime, charging during use supported
  • MMX 100 wireless: closed-back, 275g, META VOICE microphone, €99
  • MMX 130 wireless: open-back, titanium-coated 40mm driver, 265g, €129
  • Colours: Black, Arctic White (both models)

The beyerdynamic MMX 100 MMX 130 launch extends the company’s gaming range and puts the Heilbronn-based specialist, in business since 1924, in more direct competition with other wireless gaming headsets in the same segment, including recent releases like OneOdio’s Fusion A70 Gen 2. Marco Lisi is the publisher of Best of High End, part of AV Concepts BV. His path into audio started early: as a teenager he was drawn into the world of free radio, presenting shows and living immersed in music every day. In his early twenties he ran his own production studio for five years, creating jingles and commercials — hands-on training in sound design, pro-audio workflows, and critical listening through studio monitors that still shapes how he evaluates gear today. He also spent years DJing in clubs before moving into publishing, first at two earlier online magazines before founding Best of High End. His hi-fi and home cinema passion was inherited from his father, an inveterate system-swapper. Marco's first setup — a confirmation gift — paired AKAI separates with entry-level Bowers & Wilkins speakers, a brand he stayed loyal to for years as his system grew from stereo into full surround and home cinema. Like many enthusiasts, he went through an extended "audiophile" phase chasing the next upgrade, before settling into a more grounded view: gear as a means to enjoy music and film, not an end in itself. Years of critical listening have given him a well-trained ear — the ability to characterize a system or pinpoint a change in the chain quickly and accurately. Just as important, his teaching background (a Belgian "regent" degree in Dutch language) gives him the tools to translate those listening impressions into clear, readable writing.
