Final Audio has revived one of its most celebrated in-ear monitors as the Final A8000 DC. Announced on October 23, 2026 and set to reach Japanese retail on October 30, the Final A8000 DC replaces the original A8000’s pure beryllium diaphragm with a newly developed magnesium-alloy design, rather than arriving as a simple cosmetic refresh.
The original A8000, launched in 2019, built a loyal following for its clarity and transient response, built around a single dynamic driver with an ultra-thin beryllium diaphragm. Final eventually discontinued the model as sourcing pure beryllium became increasingly difficult. Instead of hunting for an alternative supplier, the Japanese manufacturer chose to redesign the driver from the ground up for the Final A8000 DC, carrying over research from its more expensive diamond-diaphragm A10000.

The Final A8000 DC’s New True Magnesium Diaphragm
Final calls the new driver its True Magnesium diaphragm. Magnesium is not as inherently stiff as beryllium, but it weighs roughly two-thirds as much as aluminium by volume, letting Final’s engineers thicken the diaphragm without adding excessive mass. Since bending stiffness increases sharply with thickness, the company combines a specially developed magnesium alloy with an optimised dome geometry to pursue the same low-distortion goal that made the original A8000 notable. Final says the new driver in the A8000 DC produces less distortion than the beryllium version it replaces, even at frequencies around 10Hz.
Suspension, Assembly and Housing
The diaphragm is only part of the redesign. Final has carried over a specialised polyurethane suspension developed for the A10000, aimed at controlling unwanted resonance while preserving the driver’s freedom of movement. The diaphragm and suspension are joined using a combination of pressure forming and thermal moulding rather than conventional adhesive, a change Final says improves manufacturing consistency. The voice coil has also been redesigned around a proprietary aluminium-alloy wire, with lead wires routed to avoid restricting diaphragm movement.
Each earpiece of the Final A8000 DC uses a precision-machined stainless-steel housing, finished in a deep navy with ion plating, and the housing itself is now smaller than the original A8000. Final has also moved to a screw-based assembly in place of adhesive construction, intended to make the earphones easier to service over time.

A New Cable, Developed with Junkosha
The Final A8000 DC ships with a new detachable cable developed in partnership with Japanese materials specialist Junkosha, combining silver-coated oxygen-free copper conductors with expanded PTFE insulation. It retains the MMCX connector of the original but switches to a 4.4mm balanced plug in place of the previous 3.5mm termination, reflecting how many high-end sources have moved to balanced outputs since 2019.
Final’s own product listing frames the A8000 DC as a direct continuation of the original’s engineering philosophy, and sits alongside the rest of Final’s headphones and earphones coverage on bestofhighend.com.
Pricing and availability
The Final A8000 DC is available for preorder in Japan now, with retail availability beginning October 30, 2026, at an official price of ¥258,000 including consumption tax. Final has not yet announced US or European pricing or availability; a straight currency conversion of the Japanese price should not be read as an official international MSRP.
