Cambridge Audio has introduced Spira, a ready-to-play turntable designed to connect to almost anything and to arrive fitted, aligned and ready to spin a record from the moment it leaves the box. The Cambridge Audio Spira brings the company’s hi-fi engineering, built up since 1968, to a segment of buyers who just want a turntable that works immediately and still has room to grow.
Ready to play, with room to grow
Every Spira ships pre-fitted and aligned with an Audio-Technica AT3600L cartridge, so there is no setup ritual before the first play. As a listener’s ear develops, the cartridge can be upgraded in seconds to the 3600LE elliptical stylus, and a removable headshell makes swapping or maintaining cartridges straightforward. Tracking force and anti-skate are both adjustable, giving real control over how the record is tracked rather than leaving everything fixed at the factory default.
Connects to anything already in the room
A built-in phono stage lets Spira connect straight into an amplifier or a pair of active speakers with nothing extra to buy, while a built-in Bluetooth transmitter sends audio wirelessly to speakers or headphones for listening sessions that do not require a cable across the room. A 1.8kg engineered steel platter, belt drive and a single dial for switching between 33⅓ and 45rpm round out a turntable built for steady, repeatable playback rather than fiddly adjustment.
Five finishes to match any system
Spira is available in five finishes: Black, White, Blue, Green and Orange, each designed to pair visually with Cambridge Audio’s L/R Series active speakers, though Spira works just as well with existing separates from any brand. The idea, Cambridge Audio says, is a turntable that looks and sounds like a considered part of a system rather than a box simply plugged in alongside one.
Pricing and availability
Cambridge Audio has not published Benelux pricing for Spira at the time of writing; availability details follow via the brand’s regional retailers.
