Sonos has started rolling out a new Sonos app update together with fresh firmware for its speakers. Version 27.3, released on November 3, 2026, introduces Presets, makes it easier to reorder favourites and adds swipe gestures to skip tracks. Spotify volume levels are also brought in line with other services.
Presets: one tap to start a room
The most important addition is Presets, a feature that Sonos says users have requested often. A preset starts saved content in a chosen room at a set volume with a single tap. Think of a morning playlist in the kitchen at a moderate level, or a focus playlist in the office. Presets are available on all app platforms.

Faster control of favourites and playback
The Sonos app update also lets you rearrange your saved content by editing the Featured section in Sonos Favorites. On the Now Playing screen and in the mini player, a simple swipe now skips to the next or previous track. Android users can also rearrange their connected services, while iOS users get a new System Health section in the Help Center with self-help steps to spot and fix potential problems.
Sonos has also improved the network update flow, although it does not detail the specific changes.

Spotify volume and player firmware
On the player side, Spotify volume levels, whether controlled from the Sonos app or directly from Spotify, now match other services more closely. That removes the jump in loudness some users noticed when switching between streaming services.
Owners of the Sonos Ace headphones get firmware 3.0.10, which adds Vocal Guidance: spoken prompts for noise control mode changes, battery level and Bluetooth switching. It can be turned on under Headphones, Settings, Hardware controls.

One of the newest products to benefit from the Sonos app update is the Sonos Beam Ultra soundbar.
What it means for users
After the difficult launch of the redesigned app in 2024, Sonos has been releasing regular updates to restore features and add new ones. This Sonos app update focuses on everyday convenience rather than big new functions. Presets in particular could change how many households use their system, because starting a room at the right volume with one tap removes several steps from the daily routine. Combined with the more consistent Spotify volume, the Sonos app update makes the system feel more predictable in daily use.
Pricing and availability
The Sonos app update is free and rolling out gradually over several days to weeks. On iOS, pulling down on the App Store account page can speed up the update. The full release notes are available on the Sonos Community.
