In a move that has the North American audiophile community buzzing, Forte Distribution has officially announced that the long-awaited Shanling SCD3.3 Super Audio CD player is now shipping to U.S. dealers at an SRP of $3,990.
Billed as Shanling’s new flagship statement in physical disc playback, the SCD3.3 is a no-compromise hybrid design that pairs a precision top-loading SACD transport with a fully discrete 24-bit R2R ladder DAC and a pure tube output stage built around carefully matched 12AT7 valves. The result, according to early listeners and Forte Distribution VP Roger Fortier, is “sonics that stand out dramatically from any standard SACD player on the market today.”
The SCD3.3 is the ultimate expression of everything Shanling has learned about Super Audio CD reproduction, Fortier said. It combines the warmth and dimensionality of tubes with the precision of our second-generation in-house R2R DAC and one of the finest CD/SACD mechanisms ever made – the HD850 drive. This isn’t just another source component; it’s a new reference.
