Samsung has unfolded its next chapter in foldable phones. At Galaxy Unpacked in London, the company introduced the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra alongside the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 — three foldables built for three different ways of living, all powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset and deeper Galaxy AI integration.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: the first Ultra in the series
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the lightest Galaxy Z Fold yet at 215 grams, pairing an 8.0-inch foldable main display with a 6.5-inch cover screen for quick tasks on the go. Its camera system leads the range: a 200MP main sensor with Quad Pixel autofocus and optical image stabilisation, a 50MP ultra-wide with a 120-degree field of view, and a 10MP telephoto offering 3x optical zoom. A 4,800mAh battery (4,854mAh nominal) keeps the Ultra running through a full day of multitasking.
Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8: familiar shapes, new focus
The standard Galaxy Z Fold8 trims the main display to 7.6 inches with a 5.4-inch cover screen, built around Samsung’s new Flex Titanium hinge and frame for a slimmer, more durable form factor. The Galaxy Z Flip8 keeps its compact clamshell design, with a 6.9-inch main display and a 4.1-inch FlexWindow cover screen that gives direct access to apps, notifications and Galaxy AI without opening the phone — including live capture through its FlexCam mode.
Galaxy AI woven through the ecosystem
All three phones tap into the same Galaxy AI backbone that now spans Samsung’s wearables, with the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8 designed to hand off context to a paired Galaxy Watch Ultra2, Galaxy Watch9 or the company’s upcoming Intelligent Eyewear for what Samsung calls a more personal AI experience. TM Roh, CEO and Head of the Device eXperience Division at Samsung Electronics, said the smartphone is becoming the most personal access point for experiences that adapt to every user as AI grows more autonomous. Buyers also receive six months of Google AI Pro with 5TB of cloud storage.
