Samsung has taken its Galaxy ecosystem beyond the phone and onto the face. At Galaxy Unpacked in London, the company unveiled its Samsung Galaxy Intelligent Eyewear, smart glasses built on ideas first shown at Google I/O and developed with two eyewear specialists, Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, so the hardware looks like proper glasses rather than a gadget.
Samsung Galaxy Intelligent Eyewear: two editions, one platform
The Samsung Galaxy Intelligent Eyewear launches in two designs. The Gentle Monster edition pairs a slim black frame with a straight top rim and softly rounded lower edges, while the Warby Parker edition uses a subtle upswept brow line in a warm brown tone. Both run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 platform and were built together with Google, putting Gemini and the Android XR platform behind every interaction.
Built for daily wear, not just demos
Battery life is rated at up to nine hours of active use, with the charging case supplying roughly seven additional full charges — numbers aimed squarely at all-day wear rather than short demo sessions. A built-in camera gives the Samsung Galaxy Intelligent Eyewear visual context for its AI assistant, which can summarise messages, read text aloud, translate conversations live, and respond to voice or paired-gesture control through a connected Galaxy Watch9. The glasses can also capture whiteboards and notes directly into Samsung Notes, and share a live point-of-view video feed during calls.
Designed to remember context
Samsung frames the Galaxy Intelligent Eyewear as agentic rather than reactive: the assistant is meant to retain context across a task, offering location-based help and live translation without the user restating what they are doing. Won-Joon Choi, COO of Samsung’s Mobile eXperience Business, described the goal as personalised, proactive assistance, while Google’s Sameer Samat, President of the Android Ecosystem, said the companies are enthusiastic to bring this quickly to consumers on the Android XR platform.
