Focusrite has issued a major update to Focusrite Control 2, the companion software that manages its Scarlett, Clarett+ and other USB audio interfaces, with a redesigned interface and a longer list of workflow and accessibility improvements now rolling out as a public beta.
Focusrite Control 2: a rebuilt interface for faster mixing
The headline change in this Focusrite Control 2 release is an overhauled UI and mixer design that builds on the original software while making levels easier to read at a glance, thanks to more precise peak metering. Routing has also been reworked: Focusrite says configuring inputs, outputs and headphone mixes now takes a more straightforward, fewer-click workflow than before.
Multi-interface control and automatic updates
Focusrite Control 2 adds multi-interface control, letting users switch between several USB-connected interfaces without physically disconnecting and reconnecting them — currently available on macOS. The software also handles its own updates going forward: on Windows, Focusrite Control 2 keeps interface drivers current automatically, removing a manual step that has tripped up new users in the past.
Built with accessibility in mind
Focusrite singled out accessibility as a design priority for this Focusrite Control 2 update, adding comprehensive screen reader support developed together with visually impaired musicians. Combined with Multi-channel Auto Gain, which sets input levels automatically across several channels at once, the release is aimed as much at studio efficiency as it is at lowering the barrier to entry for new users picking up an interface for the first time.

Focusrite Control 2 is a free download for owners of compatible Focusrite interfaces and is available now as a public beta; existing users need to uninstall the original Focusrite Control before installing it. It supports Windows 10 (64-bit) and 11, and macOS Sonoma, Sequoia and Tahoe. The software can be downloaded directly from Focusrite’s official product page.
