Phasemation LT-1000: A Genuine Fix for 3 Common System Problems

Phasemation has released its first line-level transformer, the Phasemation LT-1000, applying more than two decades of phono step-up transformer expertise — the same expertise behind the company’s phono preamplifiers and step-up transformers already covered on this site — to a decidedly less glamorous but very real problem: gain mismatches, XLR-to-RCA standoffs, and noise at the frequency extremes between preamplifiers and power amplifiers. The Phasemation LT-1000 is a fully passive box that sits in the signal path and, unlike an active buffer or attenuator, needs no power of its own and adds no electronic noise.

What the Phasemation LT-1000 Actually Solves

Phasemation says the LT-1000 grew directly out of recurring customer complaints: preamplifiers that sound best with the volume knob close to maximum but have to be run near minimum in a home system, source components that only offer XLR outputs feeding amplifiers with RCA-only inputs (or vice versa), and audible noise at the frequency extremes even on otherwise well-regarded gear. The Phasemation LT-1000 addresses all three at once. Its five-position gain selector (+6, 0, -6, -12 dB and mute) lets a system be rebalanced without touching a single active stage, while every input and output carries both a Neutrik XLR and a gold-plated RCA terminal, so mismatched components can simply be connected directly rather than through an adapter.

Built Around a Custom Super Malloy Transformer

At the core of the Phasemation LT-1000 sits a custom-wound 0.1mm Super Malloy core transformer using PC-TripleC wiring, the same conductor specification Phasemation reserves for its step-up transformers. The left and right channels are arranged in a near-mono configuration inside a compact, shielded chassis with a floating, damping-rubber mount, which Phasemation credits for the LT-1000’s 100dB channel separation, a high figure for any transformer-based device, and for keeping mechanical vibration out of the signal. Input impedance is rated at 47kΩ at 1kHz, with a frequency response of 10Hz to 20kHz (±2dB).

Two Amplifiers, One Source

Because the Phasemation LT-1000 provides simultaneous balanced and unbalanced outputs, it can also feed two power amplifiers from a single preamplifier at once, one via XLR and one via RCA, without any active splitting circuitry in between. Phasemation positions the LT-1000 as equally useful in that role and as a straightforward gain-matching tool for a mismatched pair, and finishes it in a champagne-toned brushed aluminium chassis designed to sit comfortably next to the company’s phono stages and amplifiers. In a system built around vinyl, that matters as much for a moving-coil front end as it does for the line stage: the same attention to shielding and vibration control that keeps a step-up transformer quiet applies directly to the Phasemation LT-1000, which is why Phasemation positions it as a natural companion to its own phono electronics rather than a generic accessory.

Pricing and availability

The Phasemation LT-1000 is available now through Phasemation’s dealer network, priced at roughly €2,200 in Europe, $2,995 in the United States and A$2,750 in Australia depending on the market. It has already picked up the Analog Grand Prix 2026 award from Japan’s Ongen Publishing.
