Atoll Electronique has taken its two flagship separates and folded them into a single chassis with the Atoll IN800 EVO, the most ambitious integrated amplifier the Normandy manufacturer has built to date. Still designed and hand-built in Brécey, Atoll unveiled the Atoll IN800 EVO at the High End show in Vienna, combining what used to require a pair of AM400 EVO monoblocks and a PR400 EVO preamplifier into one box, without giving up the dual-mono architecture that made those separates work.
Two AM400 EVO Monoblocks in One Atoll IN800 EVO Chassis
Structurally, the Atoll IN800 EVO is a full dual-mono design: an oversized 1,200VA toroidal transformer, mechanically decoupled from the chassis, carries separate windings for the left and right channels, while three additional transformers independently feed the control logic, digital section and analog control circuitry so nothing bleeds into the audio path. Energy storage totals 128,000µF, backed by shielded MKP coupling capacitors. Output is rated at 2 x 350W into 8 ohms and 2 x 550W into 4 ohms.
MUSES Attenuators Replace the Volume Pot
Rather than a conventional potentiometer, the Atoll IN800 EVO routes volume through relay-switched MUSES attenuators for channel-matched, click-stepped gain control, operated via two machined-aluminium dials on the fascia — one for volume, one for navigation — reading out on a 480 x 1,280-pixel colour display. The brushed and anodised 12mm aluminium front panel wraps around 16 matched MOSFET output devices per channel, built on Atoll’s usual symmetrical, low-feedback topology, with 5Hz-100kHz bandwidth, a 2µs rise time, 100dB signal-to-noise ratio and 0.05% distortion at 1kHz.
Room for a DAC and Phono Stage
Connectivity on the Atoll IN800 EVO is purely analog out of the box: two XLR inputs, three RCA line inputs and a Tape loop, with one RCA and one XLR input configurable as a home-cinema bypass, plus XLR and RCA preamp outputs for bi-amping or a subwoofer. Two option slots accept Atoll’s DA800 DAC card and P800 or P820 phono modules, so the amplifier can grow into a digital or analog front end later without a second chassis. Inputs are renameable and balance settings are memorised, with a sub-0.5W standby mode alongside a preheat mode that keeps the output stages warm.
Pricing and availability
The Atoll IN800 EVO is available to pre-order now in black or silver finishes, with deliveries expected by the end of 2026. Pricing starts at €12,000 excluding the optional DAC and phono cards, positioning it above the AM400 EVO and PR400 EVO combination it replaces as Atoll’s new flagship integrated amplifier.
