Magico originally designed the MRack purely for its own research and development work, using it to maximize system performance while voicing new loudspeaker designs in-house. Only after years of internal use did the company decide to bring the rack to market, positioning the Magico MRack as a distillation of everything the brand learned about resonance control and energy dissipation while refining its speaker lineup rather than a stand designed from a blank sheet of paper.
Constrained-Layer Damping in Every Shelf
Each shelf of the Magico MRack weighs 80 pounds and is built from five layers of constrained-layer-damped aluminum, copper and ISODAMP elastomer, a construction method designed to capture mechanical resonance and dissipate it as heat rather than letting it feed back into connected components. The vertical side struts share the same layered damping architecture and couple to the floor through Magico’s own MPOD footers, isolating every shelf from vibration transmitted through the room itself.
A full-length pure copper grounding rod runs through the rack, allowing each shelf and component to be grounded and channeling electrical noise away from sensitive electronics. Two machined aluminum rings on each elevated shelf improve cable management and reduce strain on IEC connections when running heavier power cords, while also aiding heat dissipation around amplifiers and other components that run warm.
