GIK Acoustics, a leading specialist in acoustic treatment solutions, has broadened its popular bass trapping lineup with three new deep-panel designs engineered specifically to address one of the most persistent challenges in listening rooms, home cinemas, and recording studios: uncontrolled low frequencies.
Tackling the Persistent Bass Problem
Bass remains one of the most underestimated and difficult aspects to control in any acoustic environment. Low frequencies tend to build up along walls, generate standing waves, and create muddiness that affects clarity, tonal balance, and overall accuracy whether in a critical studio mix or an immersive home theater experience.
Most standard acoustic panels lack the necessary depth to effectively absorb energy below 100Hz. Recognizing this limitation, GIK Acoustics has introduced thicker 20cm (8”) and 22cm (9.5”) options that push effective absorption down to 60Hz and even lower. These represent some of the deepest off-the-shelf bass trap panels available from a major manufacturer, offering enthusiasts and professionals substantially better control over bass buildup, standing waves, and low-end smear.
Three New Models for Different Needs
The expanded range consists of three distinct models, each optimized for specific performance characteristics:
Classic Bass Trap Panel “60Hz” This straightforward broadband absorber features a generous 20cm (8-inch) mineral wool core. It delivers absorption extending down to approximately 60Hz and provides up to 25% greater low-frequency performance compared to GIK’s previous 15cm models. Ideal for users seeking effective, no-nonsense bass control without additional features.
Amplitude Bass Trap Panel “60Hz” Building on the same deeper construction, the Amplitude version brings enhanced performance to GIK’s design-oriented hybrid series. It combines powerful absorption with scattering and diffusion elements, maintaining effective control down to around 60Hz while offering up to 25% better low-frequency absorption than its 15cm predecessor. This makes it particularly suitable for rooms where both bass management and a more refined, visually integrated aesthetic are desired.
FlexRange® Bass Trap Panel “50Hz” At the top of the new lineup sits the FlexRange® Bass Trap Panel “50Hz”, based on GIK’s patented two-frame system. With a built-in air gap and the ability to be configured in Full Range, Range Limiter, or Scatter Plate modes, it reaches even deeper absorbing down to approximately 50Hz. According to GIK, it delivers up to 30% better low-frequency absorption than the brand’s earlier 17cm models, providing maximum versatility and performance for demanding environments.
Independent Testing and Customization Options
All three new bass trap panels have undergone independent laboratory testing at the University of Salford according to BS EN ISO 354:2003 standards, ensuring transparent and reliable performance data.
Customers can personalize their panels with more than 20 different Camira Cara fabric options. Multiple standard sizes are available, along with further customization possibilities to perfectly match any room’s décor and acoustic requirements.
See Them Live at AXPONA 2026
The new deep Bass Trap Panels will be formally introduced to the market and displayed at AXPONA 2026, taking place April 10–12, 2026, at the Schaumburg Convention Center near Chicago. Attendees will have the opportunity to examine the panels up close and discuss their application with GIK Acoustics specialists.
