FiiO has launched the FiiO FG3, the Chinese hi-fi specialist’s first dedicated gaming headset, bringing coaxial dual-driver engineering and DSP-driven virtual surround sound to a segment usually dominated by mass-market brands. Priced at just £69.99 / $69.99 / €69.99 and out now, the FiiO FG3 aims to redefine what the entry level of gaming audio can sound like.
Founded in 2007, FiiO has built its reputation on affordable hi-fi: portable players, DACs, headphone amplifiers and award-winning in-ear monitors. The FG3 is the company’s first step into gaming, and it leans heavily on that Hi-Fi pedigree rather than starting from scratch.
A coaxial driver design borrowed from hi-fi
At the heart of the FG3 is a coaxial dual dynamic driver arrangement: a 50mm driver handling low and mid frequencies alongside a 16mm titanium-plated tweeter for the highs, radiating from a single point source. FiiO says this preserves phase consistency and directionality better than the side-by-side driver layouts common in gaming headsets, extending frequency response to a wide 10Hz–40kHz and improving positional accuracy for footsteps and gunfire alike.

DSP, virtual 7.1 surround and clear communication
A dual-core DSP chip drives an integrated DAC good for up to 192kHz/24-bit, paired with a headphone amplifier delivering up to 80mW. FiiO’s virtual 7.1 surround algorithm, available in Cinema and Action modes, builds a 360-degree soundstage intended to add scale to games and films alike. For voice chat, a detachable microphone uses Environmental Noise Cancellation to filter out keyboard and mouse noise, while hardware-based sidetone lets players monitor their own voice with low latency.

Browser-based customisation, no software required
Rather than a dedicated desktop app, the FG3 configures through the web-based FiiO Control WEB platform, letting users build and save a custom 10-band EQ directly to the headset. A driver-free, plug-and-play design covers Windows 7 through 11 plus PS4, PS5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2 via UAC 1.0/2.0 compatibility. Elsewhere in headphones this week, Sennheiser has been pushing its own wireless designs forward with the Momentum 5, though FiiO’s gaming-first approach is aimed at a rather different listener.

Pricing and availability
The FiiO FG3 is available now worldwide, priced at £69.99, $69.99 and €69.99, direct from FiiO’s official website and authorised retailers.
