The CLC65 is the first commercial 3-way loudspeaker built exclusively with Purifi drivers.

Copenhagen Loudspeaker Company, the sister brand of Gato Audio, has introduced the CLC65, a full-size three-way loudspeaker described as the world’s first commercial design built exclusively with Purifi drivers. Designed, developed and built in Copenhagen, the CLC65 pairs studio-grade driver technology with a sealed-box, dual passive-radiator cabinet aimed at bringing reference-level performance into the living room. Gato Audio has spent two decades building a reputation for Danish amplification and source components, and the CLC65 marks the moment that expertise moves fully into loudspeaker design under its own dedicated brand.

Purifi Drivers From Top to Bottom

Every driver in the CLC65 comes from Purifi’s ultra-low-distortion lineup. A 33 mm Purifi PTT1.3 tweeter, fitted with a 147 mm waveguide, handles the top octaves with extended, transparent treble and wide, natural dispersion. A dedicated 6.5-inch Purifi PTT6.5M midrange driver uses a light, short voice coil and high sensitivity to keep vocals and instruments detailed even at low listening levels. Bass duties fall to a 10-inch Purifi PTT10.0X long-throw woofer, engineered for power, speed and depth without overhang.

Rear-Firing Passive Radiators Instead of a Port

Rather than a conventional bass reflex port, the CLC65 uses two rear-facing 10-inch passive radiators. Copenhagen Loudspeaker Company says this eliminates port noise, reduces sensitivity to room placement, and allows deep, controlled bass extension with a tight transient response, even at higher volumes. A carefully engineered crossover with air-core inductors, ClarityCap ESA capacitors and a Jantzen low-resistance C-core inductor sets crossover points at 250 Hz and 2 kHz, tuned for wide, consistent dispersion in real listening rooms.

Finish and Connections

The CLC65 is offered in satin white, satin black, or a satin walnut real wood veneer, with the walnut edition currently sold out and preorderable for December delivery at a €500 saving. Every cabinet terminates in pure copper WBT NextGen binding posts, chosen for their conductivity, mechanical stability and refined finish, and accepts banana plugs, spades or crimped cable ends in bi-wire or bi-amp configurations. Each speaker weighs 40 kg and measures 330 x 720 x 408 mm.

Pricing and availability

The CLC65 is priced at €9,490 per pair and ships worldwide with free shipping and all taxes and duties paid. Copenhagen Loudspeaker Company also offers a 30-day home trial with a full refund if the speakers are returned.

Copenhagen Loudspeaker Company describes the CLC65 as a collaborative effort between the established Gato Audio team and a new generation of Danish engineers and designers, and calls the model its bold first statement as a standalone brand. It arrives in a European high-end loudspeaker market that has been unusually active this year, with Scandinavian rival Marten also pushing into new territory via its Dexter series. Full technical specifications and ordering information for the CLC65 are available on the official product page.

Marco Lisi is the publisher of Best of High End, part of AV Concepts BV. His path into audio started early: as a teenager he was drawn into the world of free radio, presenting shows and living immersed in music every day. In his early twenties he ran his own production studio for five years, creating jingles and commercials — hands-on training in sound design, pro-audio workflows, and critical listening through studio monitors that still shapes how he evaluates gear today. He also spent years DJing in clubs before moving into publishing, first at two earlier online magazines before founding Best of High End. His hi-fi and home cinema passion was inherited from his father, an inveterate system-swapper. Marco's first setup — a confirmation gift — paired AKAI separates with entry-level Bowers & Wilkins speakers, a brand he stayed loyal to for years as his system grew from stereo into full surround and home cinema. Like many enthusiasts, he went through an extended "audiophile" phase chasing the next upgrade, before settling into a more grounded view: gear as a means to enjoy music and film, not an end in itself. Years of critical listening have given him a well-trained ear — the ability to characterize a system or pinpoint a change in the chain quickly and accurately. Just as important, his teaching background (a Belgian "regent" degree in Dutch language) gives him the tools to translate those listening impressions into clear, readable writing.
