Samsung has kicked off the new year with a bang, announcing the global launch of The Freestyle+, the latest evolution of its popular portable projector series. Revealed just ahead of CES 2026 in Las Vegas, this AI-powered device promises to redefine flexible entertainment, combining enhanced brightness, intelligent screen optimization, and seamless portability for streaming, gaming, and more—anywhere you go
Building on the iconic cylindrical design of the original Freestyle, the Freestyle+ introduces significant upgrades that address common pain points of portable projectors. At the heart of the device is AI OptiScreen, Samsung’s advanced AI-driven technology that automatically optimizes the projected image for virtually any surface or environment. Users can simply point the projector, place it down, and start watching—no manual adjustments required.
Key AI OptiScreen features
- 3D Auto Keystone: Corrects distortion on uneven or angled surfaces, such as corners, curtains, or slanted walls.
- Real-time Focus: Continuously adjusts sharpness if the projector is moved or rotated, eliminating blur.
- Screen Fit: Automatically aligns the image when paired with a compatible projection screen.
- Wall Calibration: Analyzes the surface color and pattern to minimize distractions and deliver clearer visuals.
These tools are complemented by Vision AI Companion, Samsung’s personalized AI platform that integrates an enhanced Bixby voice assistant with partner AI services for more intuitive content interaction.
On the hardware front, the Freestyle+ boasts 430 ISO lumens—nearly double the brightness of the previous generation (which topped out at around 230 lumens). This improvement makes it far more usable in everyday lighting conditions, while retaining the compact, lightweight form factor that’s easy to carry between rooms or take on the road.
The 180-degree rotating cradle allows projection onto walls, ceilings, floors, or any surface without additional mounts, perfect for impromptu movie nights, bedroom setups, or outdoor gatherings.
Entertainment options
Entertainment options are robust and standalone: built-in access to Samsung TV Plus, certified OTT streaming partners, and the Samsung Gaming Hub means no external devices are needed for content or cloud gaming. Audio comes via a powerful 360-degree speaker for room-filling sound, with Q-Symphony support for syncing with compatible Samsung soundbars.
As Samsung continues to innovate in lifestyle-oriented displays, The Freestyle+ embodies our vision of screens that adapt seamlessly to modern living, said Hun Lee, Executive Vice President of Samsung’s Visual Display Business. By pairing true portability with intelligent AI, it delivers consistent high-quality experiences wherever life takes you.
Samsung will showcase The Freestyle+ at CES 2026 (January 6–9), with a phased global rollout planned for the first half of 2026. Pricing and exact availability details are yet to be confirmed, but expect it to position as a premium portable option in the high-end lifestyle tech segment.
