The P9 half of the Samsung P9 P7 pair delivers sequential read speeds of up to 4,000MB/s and write speeds of up to 3,800MB/s over USB4, nearly twice what the previous-generation T9 managed over USB 3.2 Gen 2×2. That headroom lets the drive handle 12K direct recording, so photographers and videographers can capture, store and edit large RAW files and ultra-high-resolution footage without hunting for a faster external drive. The P9 also holds the distinction of being the world’s first 8TB USB4 portable SSD at this speed class, an achievement that earned it a CES 2026 Innovation Award earlier this year.
