Well, you got to hand it to the man. He did it again. History learns us that behind a few of the top notch brands in our industry, there’s just one man. It’s no different with Radiant Acoustics. The man is nothing less than a visionair. He knows the market through and through, possesses the incredible capability to put the right people together to make a project succeed and has a sixt sense in terms of product innovation and development. Drumrolls, bring out the fanfare, put your hand together for … you kinda guessed it by now, right? Yes? No? It starts with a P and ends with … eter Lyngdorf. How would our industry look like today without the influence of that single man. I just don’t wanna reflect on that, cause we’d be missing out on a lot of really nice products to review, enjoy and have the pleasure of listening to. His latest brain fart was baptized ‘Radiant Acoustics’. Until recently, the brand had only 1 product: the Clarity 6.2 loudspeaker. Good news, a little brother has arrived in the meantime: the Clarity 4.2 loudspeaker. Today, we’ll be focussing on their firstborn.

LUMINOUS DANISH LOUDSPEAKER BRAND

Radiant Acoustics saw the light of day in 2024 as a Danish hi-fi loudspeaker brand. It’s part of the audio empire built by Peter Lyngdorf’s companies ‘HiFi Klubben’, ‘Purifi’ and ‘Nordic Hi-FI’ with the goal of delivering high-end audio performance at accessible price points. There’s little to obtject to this noble goal, right? Mr. Lyngdorf has become an audio industry veteran with over 40 years of experience for us to benefit from. The idea for Radiant Acoustics was proposed in 2023 by Henrik Reinholdtsen, CEO of Nordic Hi-Fi, a direct-to-consumer retail operation spun off from HiFI Klubben. Reinholdtsen aimed to create affordable speakers utilizing Purifi’s advanced transducer technology, aligning with Lyngdorf’s philosophy of democratizing high-end audio. Radiant Acoustics was officially introduced to the market in September 2024, with its debut product: the Clarity 6.2 passive speaker. Denmark has a rich history in manufacturing, dating back to the 1920s with brands like Ortofon, Bang & Olufsen and Vifa. The country’s audio and electronics industry is its fourth-largest export sector, with companies like DALI, Dynaudio, Jamo and Raidho Acoustics contributing to its global reputation. Radiant Acoustics adopts a consumer-direct sales approach. This model eliminates traditional retail markups, making high-end audio more affordable. Moreover, the brand offers a 30-day home trail with 49 EUR return shipping fee and 10-year warranty covering malfunctions (exluding wear, misuse, or improper handling). This refelects a lot of confidence in product quality and a customer-centric approach.

CLARITY 6.2 BREAKDOWN

Take out your magnifying glass! Let’s take a deep dive into the key features of the Radiant Acoustics Clarity 6.2, highlighting its innovative engineering and exceptional audio quality.

PURIFI USHINDI Woofer and Passive Radiators

The Clarity 6.2 features a 6.5” PURIFI USHINDI woofer (PTT6.5X04-NLA-10) with NeutralSurround suspension, engineered for ultra-low distortion and high efficiency. This woofer delivers precise, powerful bass down to 35 Hz, excelling in complex audio tracks. Complemented by two 6.5” PURIFI USHINDI passive radiators in a dual balanced push-pull configuration, the speaker achieves deep bass extension without port noise, ensuring clarity and refinement in a compact 222 x 364 x 266 mm cabinet. This setup eliminates cabinet vibration, enhancing bass accuracy and reducing intermodulation distortion for a seamless sound.

High-End AMT Tweeter with Custom Waveguide

The Clarity 6.2 incorporates a symmetrical Air Motion Transformer (AMT) tweeter with a Kapton diaphragm, offering exceptional dynamics, headroom, and precise detail reproduction. Co-developed with PURIFI, a custom high-frequency beam expansion waveguide optimizes dispersion, narrowing it at the 2,400 Hz crossover point to match the woofer and broadening it in the 10-20 kHz range. This creates a wide sweet spot, delivering an expansive, engaging soundstage that fills the room while maintaining clarity in vocals and high frequencies.

RADIANT-ACOUSTICS-CLARIY-6.2-4

Distortion-Free Crossover

The speaker’s iron-free crossover is crafted from premium materials, selected through rigorous data and listening tests. This ensures linear performance, low distortion, and a transparent soundstage, allowing intricate details like a female voice alongside deep bass—to shine without interference, preserving the artist’s intent.

Robust Cabinet Design

The Clarity 6.2 features a 15 mm CNC-machined aluminum front baffle bonded to a 21 mm MDF cabinet, reducing vibrations and distortion. Horizontal bracing and Basotect® acoustic foam absorb backward sound, minimizing resonance. The cabinet combines durability with aesthetic elegance, enhancing both performance and visual appeal.

Pure, Immersive Audio Experience

By tackling distortion a common challenge in compact speakers the Clarity 6.2 delivers crystal-clear mid and high frequencies alongside deep bass. Each unit undergoes rigorous pre-shipment testing with advanced audio equipment, ensuring consistent quality. With 85 dB sensitivity and 4-ohm impedance, it pairs well with powerful amplifiers, requiring ear-level tweeter alignment and 2 ft wall distance for optimal imaging.

EAR-INSPIRING CLARITY

The proof is in eating the pudding. Grab a spoon and let’s digg in. I’m pleased to present a diverse musical selection: from world music, pop, classical, electronic music to jazz.

Let’s kick off with some world music from BEATrio. Archipelago is a truly remarkable track in terms of recording skills. Less is more. The beauty lies in its simplicity. A handful of people with only 3 instruments jamming from their core: harp, banjo and drums/percussion. The Clarity 6.2 presents the different instruments with absolute naturalness and precision. The fact that these speakers play with so much joy and sparkle makes you enjoy the music even more. Placement of the instruments is flawless, with sufficient air. A beautiful soundstage fills the room with a width and depth far exceeding the expectations of the physical appearance of the Clarity 6.2.

Time to throw some jazz into the mix. Carmen Gomez inc. performs her hit Summertime from her album Don’t you cry. The track starts with the plucking of notes on a double bass. Wow! It’s immediately clear what the speakers are capable of in terms of bass reproduction. They convince with fast, deep bass and a weight reminiscent of 3-way floorstanders. An electronic guitar and drums/persussion fill up the stage/room to introduce sweet voiced Carmen. Every smallest detail of her voice is smoothly translated by the speakers. The rubbing of the brushes over the snare drum sounds so realistic that it feels like it’s standing in the room and you can almost touch it.

Impressed by the Clarity’s bass performance it was time to put them to a real test. Still a reference in that regard are the recordings of the Danish artist Trentemoller. How suiting, not? Playing Danish music on a Danish loudspeaker. Forest is one of his first known hits, included on the album Early Workx. The electronic sounds at the begining of the track fill up the room like a paintbrush making its first strokes on a blank canvas. Pinpoint accuracy on all fronts. Crisp and fresh sounds inspire. Clear bass tones give the whole foundation. The low notes remain controlled througout, yet have sufficient depth and weight. Radiant Acoustics claim a frequency response down to 35Hz at -3dB. I played some subtones to check that. I even got a clean 30Hz out of it!

RADIANT-ACOUSTICS-CLARIY-6.2-2

Something totally different: a cover of Brothers in arms from the Dire Straits, done by Club for five from the album You’re the voice. It’s a nice melt of some doubled female voices filling the void around the lead voice. They added an octave to the male voice trough processing in the studio. You love it or hate it. What stands out is that the Clarity 6.2 clearly presents the bloated male voice as produced behind the mixing desk. But this song is all about the blend of all the voices, creating some kind of heavenly musical atmosphere that sucks you in for about 5 minutes. Lovely!

Let’s finish off in style with some classical work from Mozart’s Requiem: K. 626 Lacrimosa performed by The Choir of King’s College from Cambridge. This piece of music in D minor is the last unfinished composition of the Austrian composer Wolfgang Mozart. Lacrimosa means wheeping/tearful and refers to one of the most somber parts of a funeral mass. It’s assumed that Mozart in fact wrote this music for his own funaral. Strings set the dark tone. Choir voices fill the impressive church space. The speakers succeed perfectly in conveying the right tone and mood. They can play with joy, but also with sadness when necessary. Emotional variety proves to be their strong suit.

PRICE

A pair of Radiant Acoustics Clarity 6.2 speakers costs 3.998 EUR. They are available in Walnut (Veneer), Black (matte laquer) and White (matte laquer). For a pair of Clarity stands you need an extra budget of 798 EUR. All products come with worldwide free shipping and 30-day return polocy.

RADIANT ACOUSTICS CLARIY 6.2

3.998

The Radiant Acoustics Clarity 6.2 offers audiophiles a pristine, untainted listening experience where the speakers seem to disappear, leaving only an immersive soundscape. They punch well above their weight, making them serious rivals for full-fledged 3-way floorstanding systems. Their sound can best be discribed as vivid, fast, rich in transients, natural, open, micro-detailed with an unexpected bass performance both in depth and weight. Boy, these speakers play joyful and bring a lot of joy! The Clarity 6.2 is a true statement of what is technically possible and achievable in terms of sound reproduction today. I’m not joking when I say that this kind of performance easily requires double or tripple the budget. Bestofhighend Award!

I was playing vinyl when I was 3 years old. There was a song from the Rubettes that I liked a lot "Sugar Baby Love". My mother still cherishes the photo of me spinning that record! The audiophile was born. As an adult the video enthusiast in me woke up, making professional corporate movies. Here, at "Best of high end", I can indulge my audiovisual senses.
