Lewitt has moved beyond microphones into wireless studio monitoring with the LW6, a closed-back headphone built around the Austrian brand’s own RealSound wireless technology. The Lewitt LW6 promises uncompressed, low-latency monitoring without a cable, aimed squarely at mixing and mastering engineers who have so far had to choose between the convenience of wireless and the fidelity of a wired connection.
Uncompressed Wireless Monitoring
The centerpiece of the Lewitt LW6 is its bundled LW TX RealSound transmitter, which sends fully uncompressed PCM audio to the headphones over a proprietary wireless link rated at under 6 milliseconds of latency and a range of up to 5 metres. That is a meaningfully different proposition from a typical Bluetooth headphone: rather than a compressed codec, the signal path stays uncompressed from source to driver, which is what makes real-time tracking and mixing over a wireless connection viable in the first place.
Built to Measure, Not to Flatter
Lewitt says the Lewitt LW6 was voiced and measured using microphones placed in real ears rather than relying purely on simulator data, aiming for a transparent, natural response that would normally only be associated with an open-back design, despite the closed-back construction. Each earcup houses a 40mm electrodynamic driver with a bio-cellulose diaphragm, covering 20Hz-20kHz with a sensitivity of 114dBSPL/V at 1kHz and a maximum SPL of 121dB at 50Hz. The closed-back cups also serve a practical studio purpose: passive isolation that keeps headphone bleed from leaking into a nearby microphone during tracking.
DSP Tools Aimed at the Studio
Beyond raw playback, the Lewitt LW6 layers in DSP features aimed squarely at mixing and mastering work: a 5-band custom EQ with three storable profiles, a virtual studio monitor simulation mode, Loudness Guard hearing protection, K-metering, and advanced monitoring modes including mono, side-stereo, side-mono and left-right swap. Two programmable buttons and a dedicated volume wheel put those functions under the user’s fingers rather than buried in a companion app, though the LEWITT HEADPHONES software and mobile app both offer full control over the same feature set, alongside a bundled Space Replicator Essential acoustic-simulation plugin.
Wired Fallbacks and Battery Life
For sessions where wireless isn’t an option, the Lewitt LW6 also connects over USB-C for uncompressed PCM audio at up to 96kHz/24-bit, a 3.5mm analog input, and Bluetooth 5.3 with SBC and AAC for everyday use away from the studio. Lewitt rates the 900mAh battery at 21 hours of RealSound playback, with a full charge in 80 minutes and a 15-minute quick charge good for roughly 3 hours of use.
