Polish manufacturer Fezz Audio has renewed its 300B stereo amplifier. The Fezz Lybra MK2 is a parallel single-ended design with two 300B triodes per channel, aimed at listeners who want the micro-detail of a classic single-ended amplifier with more power and headroom.
Two 300B triodes per channel
The Fezz Lybra MK2 is the evolution of the Lybra PSE (parallel single-ended) amplifier. By running two 300B tubes in parallel per channel, Fezz doubles the output compared with a classic 300B single-ended design: the Lybra MK2 delivers 2 × 15 watts. According to Fezz, the redesigned circuit offers a large, holographic soundstage with authority and grip, a rich and textured midrange, silky highs and a deep, controlled bass.
The tube line-up consists of four 300B power triodes and three 6SN7 driver tubes. The amplifier uses custom-built toroidal transformers.
Automatic bias and delayed start-up
To make tube ownership as easy as possible, the Fezz Lybra MK2 comes with automatic bias control and a delayed start-up system. That protects the tubes and makes the amplifier practically maintenance-free: there is no need to adjust the bias by hand when replacing tubes.
The amplifier has three RCA line inputs plus a direct input that bypasses the volume control, for use with an external preamplifier or AV processor. Two slots accept optional extension boards, and the output transformers have 4 and 8 ohm taps. A tube cage is available to protect the hot 300B tubes.
Seven colours
Like the rest of the Evolution series, the Fezz Lybra MK2 is available in a wide choice of finishes: Big Calm, Black Ice, Burning Red, EverGreen, Moonlight, Republika and Sunlight. The amplifier measures 420 × 380 × 226 mm and weighs 23.5 kg.
