Denon has introduced the next generation of its premium X-Series AV receivers, the AVR-X2900H and AVC-X3900H. Designed for home theater enthusiasts and custom installers who demand higher performance, these new models deliver increased power, superior audio precision, and enhanced system control.
Precision, Power, and Control for Enthusiasts and Custom Home Theaters
Positioned above the recently launched AVR-S980H, the new X-Series receivers focus on refinement and scalability. They target users who want to fine-tune every detail of their audio experience and professional integrators seeking reliable, high-end solutions for bespoke home theaters and whole-home audio installations.
The X-Series from Denon has always been about performance without compromise, said Lyle Smith, President of Sound United at HARMAN. With these new AV receivers, we combine extensive sound-tuning capabilities for any room with the flexibility required for high-end custom home theaters and tailored audio systems.
Quality in Denon’s DNA
Sound quality remains at the heart of both models. Updated internal components and a powerful 32-bit multi-channel DAC architecture provide a more refined soundstage, greater high-frequency clarity, and stronger, more controlled low-frequency energy across all channels.
Developed and tuned at Denon’s Shirakawa factory in Japan under the guidance of the Denon Sound Master, the receivers balance precise measurements with careful listening to deliver the brand’s signature open, dynamic, and immersive sound—whether for movies, music, or gaming.
Advanced Sound Optimization with Freedom of Choice
Denon continues to support both Audyssey and Dirac Live room correction, giving users and integrators the flexibility to choose the tools that best match their preferences and system needs.
Audyssey is included for fast, reliable calibration and easy setup. Dirac Live is available as an upgrade for those seeking deeper control and precision, particularly in complex installations. This dual approach allows users to prioritize simplicity, technical accuracy, or long-term flexibility.
Denon AVR-X2900H
The AVR-X2900H is built for enthusiasts ready to step up their home theater performance. It delivers 95 watts per channel across seven channels, offering more headroom and stability than entry-level models.
It supports a wide range of surround configurations, advanced HDMI features, and modern gaming standards. The receiver is now also compatible with Dirac Live Room Correction, complementing its built-in Audyssey, HEOS multi-room audio, and Denon’s renowned ease of installation.
Denon AVC-X3900H
The flagship AVC-X3900H is aimed at no-compromise home theaters and professional installations. It features 9.4 amplifier channels, 11.4 processing channels, and 105 watts per channel.
With four independent subwoofer outputs and extensive configuration options, it delivers balanced, powerful bass tailored to any room. Dirac Live Room Correction, Bass Control, and Active Room Treatment (ART) are available as upgrades, while Audyssey remains included for standard setups.
Both models include an IP-based web UI for setup, advanced HDMI diagnostics, and comprehensive control interfaces for easy installation and ongoing optimization.
HEOS for Whole-Home Audio
Both receivers integrate HEOS multi-room audio, supporting Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay 2, and streaming services including Spotify, Qobuz, and TuneIn Internet Radio. Users can stream high-resolution audio throughout the house, group rooms, or play different sources in different zones via a single app.
Flexible Wireless Options for Evolving Spaces
The AVR-X2900H and AVC-X3900H support Denon Home 200, 400, and 600 speakers as wireless rear surround channels for rooms where running cables is impractical. Wireless surround functionality will be enabled via a future firmware update.
Built to Grow with Your System
Extensive HDMI connectivity, 1440p passthrough, AMD FreeSync compatibility, and scalable speaker configurations ensure these receivers remain relevant as technology and user needs evolve.
