CANVAS HiFi BACCH 3D is growing into a full home cinema platform. The Danish brand, known for packing its award-winning BACCH 3D crosstalk-cancellation technology into a single front unit, is adding a companion surround solution that brings dedicated Dolby Surround and Dolby Atmos channels around the listener, ahead of its world premiere at IFA 2026 in Berlin.
Instead of the usual home cinema layout of separate front, centre and subwoofer speakers, CANVAS HiFi keeps its BACCH 3D unit as the complete front soundstage and lets owners add active speakers for surround, rear and height duties. The pitch is a far cleaner installation around the TV, without sacrificing the immersive, multichannel feel of a proper home cinema.
That single-box approach has always been the core idea behind CANVAS HiFi BACCH 3D: BACCH filtering lets the front unit deliver convincing stereo separation and a wide soundstage from a footprint that would normally only manage mono or basic stereo. Extending that same design language to surround and height channels, rather than switching to a completely different speaker family, is what keeps the room looking coherent instead of like a patchwork of mismatched boxes.
A new processor at the heart of CANVAS HiFi BACCH 3D
The expansion is built around the new Almando InMedio, developed in collaboration with German electronics specialist Almando. It handles surround decoding and signal distribution while opening the CANVAS HiFi BACCH 3D platform to a wider range of wired and wireless connections, including WiSA. Critically, CANVAS says the platform is deliberately open, so owners are not locked into a single speaker brand for their surround, rear and height channels and can combine the system with compatible active speakers from other manufacturers.
CANVAS HiFi BACCH 3D teams up with System Audio
Alongside the Almando partnership, CANVAS HiFi is announcing a new collaboration with Danish loudspeaker manufacturer System Audio. Selected Silverback active speakers will be adapted to the CANVAS design universe, including matching Kvadrat textiles, colours and wood finishes, so the surround speakers look like a natural extension of the front unit rather than an afterthought bolted onto the wall.
“One CANVAS at the front. The rest of the cinema around you” is how the brand sums up the concept: a single, sculptural front unit that carries the BACCH 3D stereo and dialogue duties, surrounded by matching active speakers that fill in surround, rear and height information without cluttering the room with a conventional multi-speaker array.
