This limited-edition masterpiece evolves ATC‘s iconic “50” series blueprint, blending legendary heritage with modern refinements to deliver unparalleled clarity, dynamics, and musical truth for discerning audiophiles and music lovers who demand enduring excellence.
A Legacy Reimagined
The EL50 Anniversary builds directly on the foundation of ATC‘s revered 50 loudspeaker design, first established decades ago. It incorporates discrete active tri-amplification technology pioneered in the SCM70 during the 1990s, refined in the SCM50 Anniversary of 2004, and further elevated in the SE Series of 2014. Drawing aesthetic inspiration from the groundbreaking EL150 of 2006 the first ATC model to feature an elliptical enclosure, crafted under the vision of Billy Woodman the EL50 introduces a curved, elliptical cabinet that minimizes diffraction and ensures smooth, uniform dispersion.
Exquisite finishing touches elevate its presence: hand-selected European walnut veneers grace the curved surfaces, complemented by ebony inlays on the rear panel and a luxurious high-gloss polyester lacquer. Napa leather upholstery frames the mid and high-frequency drivers and the lower front baffle, adding tactile sophistication and visual contrast that seamlessly integrates with the cabinet’s elegant form.
Cutting-Edge Discrete Active Amp-Pack
At the core of the EL50 Anniversary lies a newly developed proprietary 3-channel active “Amp-Pack.” This integrated powerhouse features balanced inputs, intuitive user controls, precision fourth-order active crossovers, and dedicated amplification delivering a robust 200W to the bass, 100W to the midrange, and 50W to the high frequencies continuous power ratings that ensure effortless headroom.
New discrete gain blocks in the line-level stages, combined with a balanced instrumentation input, achieve dramatically lower noise floors and reduced distortion. The power supply has been thoroughly re-engineered with individual toroidal transformers for each amplifier channel, plus a dedicated transformer for low-voltage needs. This isolated topology minimizes intermodulation distortion between channels, delivering exceptional clarity even under the most demanding musical passages.
Enhanced Cabinetry and Drive Units
ATC’s in-house manufacturing advancements have further stiffened the elliptical cabinet while boosting internal damping, effectively eliminating unwanted coloration in the upper bass and midrange. The bass driver mounts into a precision-machined aluminum ring bolted to the front baffle, reinforcing structural integrity.
The curved cabinet profile and rounded edges promote seamless driver-to-room integration, reducing edge diffraction for lower linear distortion and more consistent on- and off-axis response.
The drive units remain entirely ATC-crafted for minimal distortion and unwavering consistency across all levels and genres:
- The SH25-76S ‘S-Spec’ tweeter employs a potent neodymium motor, dual suspension for precise coil control, and a coated fabric dome for silky, extended highs with uniform dispersion.
- The SM75-150S ‘Superdome’ midrange handles 380Hz to 3.5kHz with a high-power magnet, large voice coil, and dome diaphragm revealing micro-details while conquering massive dynamic swings.
- The SB75-234SL bass driver leverages ATC’s Super Linear motor to cut third-harmonic distortion in the upper bass and lower midrange, ensuring seamless integration. An optimized spider-roll-surround design permits substantial linear excursion for authoritative, controlled lows.
