Sony Celebrates Its NFL Partnership With Five Custom WH-1000XM6 Editions

Sony is marking its role as the Official Headphones of the NFL with a set of five custom Sony NFL WH-1000XM6 headphones, each finished in the colors of a different franchise and offered to fans through a limited sweepstakes rather than retail sale. The initiative puts the Sony NFL WH-1000XM6 program at the center of Sony’s multi-year NFL partnership, pairing the brand’s audio flagship with some of the league’s most recognizable teams. Full promotion details are published on Sony’s official NFL partnership microsite.

A one-of-a-kind colorway for five NFL teams

The five Sony NFL WH-1000XM6 units take the standard WH-1000XM6 shell and wrap the earcups in gradient team liveries for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. Each pair carries the team’s primary colors blending across the earcup, with the club’s logo set into the cushion and the Sony and NFL shield branding on the headband. Sony has not put these finishes into production; the five pairs shown are described as unique, one-off pieces built specifically for the promotion, distinct from any colorway Sony has previously sold at retail.

Part of a wider Sony x NFL campaign

The Sony NFL WH-1000XM6 initiative extends a partnership under which Sony carries the “Official Headphones of the NFL” designation, building on prior Sony activations around NFL broadcasts and events. Rather than a permanent product line, the five colorways function as collectible centerpieces for fan engagement tied to the season, reinforcing Sony’s audio presence around NFL programming without altering the WH-1000XM6’s regular retail lineup. Sony has run similar team-colored limited editions before: readers who want the background on that lineage can see our earlier coverage of the Sony WH-1000XM6 Olive Gray finish, a separate, retail-available colorway unrelated to this NFL promotion.

How fans can win a Sony NFL WH-1000XM6 pair

Access to the custom units runs through a Sony-hosted sweepstakes rather than a storefront listing. Entrants select their favorite of the five team finishes, with winners drawn from qualifying entries; full eligibility rules, entry windows and odds are published on Sony’s promotional microsite linked above. Because the headphones are not sold individually, winning the drawing is the only way to own one of the five Sony NFL WH-1000XM6 pairs. Sony has not said whether the sweepstakes will repeat with new team finishes in future NFL seasons, but the structure mirrors other limited-run fan promotions the brand has run around major sporting partnerships.

Pricing and availability

The five NFL-branded Sony NFL WH-1000XM6 units are not for sale and carry no retail price; they are awarded exclusively through the sweepstakes described above. Sony’s standard WH-1000XM6, on which the custom editions are based, remains available through normal retail channels at $459.99 in its regular finishes, making the entry-only Sony NFL WH-1000XM6 program a genuine rarity rather than a disguised retail launch.

Key specifications

  • Base model: Sony WH-1000XM6 over-ear noise-cancelling headphones
  • Finish: five custom team colorways (Steelers, Cowboys, Broncos, Patriots, Seahawks), one-off pieces not sold at retail
  • Availability: sweepstakes entry only, via Sony’s NFL partnership promotion
  • Standard WH-1000XM6 retail price: $459.99
  • Branding: NFL shield and Sony co-branding on headband and earcups

Publisher

Marco Lisi is the publisher of Best of High End, part of AV Concepts BV. His path into audio started early: as a teenager he was drawn into the world of free radio, presenting shows and living immersed in music every day. In his early twenties he ran his own production studio for five years, creating jingles and commercials — hands-on training in sound design, pro-audio workflows, and critical listening through studio monitors that still shapes how he evaluates gear today. He also spent years DJing in clubs before moving into publishing, first at two earlier online magazines before founding Best of High End. His hi-fi and home cinema passion was inherited from his father, an inveterate system-swapper. Marco's first setup — a confirmation gift — paired AKAI separates with entry-level Bowers & Wilkins speakers, a brand he stayed loyal to for years as his system grew from stereo into full surround and home cinema. Like many enthusiasts, he went through an extended "audiophile" phase chasing the next upgrade, before settling into a more grounded view: gear as a means to enjoy music and film, not an end in itself. Years of critical listening have given him a well-trained ear — the ability to characterize a system or pinpoint a change in the chain quickly and accurately. Just as important, his teaching background (a Belgian "regent" degree in Dutch language) gives him the tools to translate those listening impressions into clear, readable writing.
