Esprit Generation 10, the French cable maker’s most extensive lineup update in nearly three decades, has officially arrived in the United States. Also referred to as Generation X, the range debuted at High End Vienna 2026 in June and is now available to order through Esprit’s authorized US dealers, supported by Playback Distribution.
Homegrown in the French Countryside
Esprit was founded in 1997 by Richard Cesari, a hobbyist who started out hand-building cables for his own system in Confolens, in the Charente region of France. Word of mouth turned that hobby into an internationally recognized hi-fi brand that has since expanded from cables into power accessories and loudspeakers, while keeping production in-house. “It’s like a recipe,” Cesari explains. “If you don’t know how to combine the ingredients, you can have the best ingredients in the world and still get it wrong.”
What’s New in Generation 10
Esprit offers nine cable ranges — ALPHA, BETA, CELESTA, ETERNA, AURA, LUMINA, EURÊKA, GAÏA and L’ESPRIT — covering speaker cables, RCA and XLR interconnects, phono leads, digital links and AC power cords. With Esprit Generation 10, every range has been re-engineered from the ground up, starting with revised dimensions and completely reworked connectors that use less material in the signal path, ranging from pure copper to silver-plated copper and, in the upper ranges, pure silver center pins.
The most significant shift is electrical: on select architectures, Esprit has moved from the symmetrical 0.08mm conductor structure of Generation 9 to an asymmetrical design that pairs 0.08mm strands on the positive conductor with 0.30mm strands on the negative one, which Esprit says delivers greater dynamics and a more natural presentation. Insulation is now applied under vacuum for a harder, more stable structure, and select ranges gain double polarization on top of the partial shielding carried over from Generation 9.
Built the Esprit Way
Esprit’s philosophy has not changed with the new generation: cables should reveal a system’s qualities rather than color them, a principle that puts the brand in the same conversation as other cable specialists making headlines this year, including Nordost’s Norse 2 range. “Our goal remains to make cables that are exceptionally detailed, dynamic, quiet and natural, without ever tiring the listener,” Cesari said of the Generation 10 development.

Pricing and availability
Esprit Generation 10 cables are available to order now in the United States through Esprit’s network of authorized dealers. US retail pricing for a 2-meter pair of speaker cables ranges from $499 for the entry-level ALPHA range up to $59,999 for the reference L’ESPRIT range, with interconnects, digital cables and power cords offered across the lineup in multiple lengths. The full US price list and a dealer map are available through Playback Distribution; full technical background on the new generation is available at Esprit’s own site.
