German high-end manufacturer TIDAL has unveiled the TIDAL MA1, a reference monoblock power amplifier built in collaboration with Bugatti as part of the brand’s Royale collection. As the successor to the TIDAL Assoluta Monobloc, the TIDAL MA1 carries forward a design that for years defined what the company considered possible in control, transparency and musical authority, now translated into a new generation of engineering and execution.
Inside the TIDAL MA1’s Reference Amplifier Design
At the core of the TIDAL MA1 is a true symmetrical, monaural topology with a linear power supply and a perfectly balanced architecture of power, bandwidth and precision. Three 1,000VA toroidal transformers, magnetically shielded and mechanically decoupled, feed a regulated active power supply, while 800,000μF of stabilisation capacity and high-grade, long-life capacitors deliver an ultra-fast response. The signal path itself is DC-coupled from input to output, with no coupling capacitors or relays in the way, and ultralow-impedance capacitors sit directly at the transistors for the shortest possible connection.

Rated output climbs from 420 watts continuous at 8 ohms to 840 watts at 4 ohms and 1,500 watts at 2 ohms, doubling cleanly as impedance halves — a sign of the current delivery TIDAL is aiming for. Bandwidth runs from 1Hz to beyond 250kHz (-0.5dB, linear), and TIDAL’s proprietary APM protection system, which sits entirely outside the signal path, monitors output current against voltage, short-circuit current, DC offset and both under- and over-voltage conditions. An intelligent soft-start system and remote power on/off via TIDAL preamplifiers over an RJ45 Ethernet cable round out the everyday usability of the TIDAL MA1.
A Bespoke Exterior Shaped by Bugatti
The most visible result of the collaboration sits on the top plate: a floating Bugatti logo that TIDAL describes as more than a design detail, translating the marque’s halo into the world of high-end audio. As with the rest of the TIDAL x Bugatti Royale collection, the MA1’s cabinet can be individually tailored to virtually any specification, from the choice of colours to the materials used for the front and top-plate inserts — shown here in high-gloss painted carbon fiber and high-gloss midnight blue, though TIDAL says any colour or material combination can be configured to order.

TIDAL is careful to frame raw power as a means rather than an end: every part of the TIDAL MA1’s engineering is aimed at preserving musical information, dynamics and spatial integrity without imposing a character of its own, so that it can drive virtually any loudspeaker with what the company calls effortless authority. Massive aluminium parts and internal bracing eliminate resonances and provide torsional rigidity, while a multilayer PCB with 105μm copper per layer and hand-selected, matched transistors (precision better than 1%) round out a build the company calls its most advanced power amplifier to date — in the same bespoke spirit as other design collaborations in high-end audio, such as the Estelon Forza anniversary edition.
Pricing and availability
As a fully bespoke, made-to-order piece, the TIDAL MA1 does not carry a fixed retail price; each unit is individually configured with its owner and priced accordingly through TIDAL’s own site and its dealer network.
